Birmingham City v Swansea City, Capital One Cup, Wednesday 7.45pm League Cup Holders Swansea City travel to St Andrews to take on Brum on Wednesday night. How seriously will Michael Laudrup take the competition this year? It was our gateway to Europe last year so it is still an important competition. Now that we are in Europe will those matches take priority? A conundrum for Sir Mike, especially as we are playing Arsenal just three days later. Dill will fill you in regarding pubs in Birmingham. In fact he may just fill you in The bookies make the Swans odds on favourites - http://sports.coral.co.uk/football/england/capital-one-cup/birmingham-v-swansea-963274.html
I know this may sound perverse but I think ML will prioritise the League Cup over the FA cup this year. Retaining it will be a challenge he fancies, also more teams take the FA cup more seriously as it has more prestige thus we have a better shot at another final.
It's Monday night and that's all you are getting Who knows what side Brum will put out, but I think we will play a semi-strong team and win 2-1
Yep agree, I think Laudrup won't want to relinquish the trophy too easily. Is that lad from Man U eligible to play Wednesday or are Manu U stopping him he knows where the net is after shoving 4 in on Saturday.
I don't think he will prioritize this game, and I would agree. With Europe, and wanting to do well in the league...I also think the FA cup will have a go this year. My team Tremmel Teindalli,Williams,Amat,Davies Dyer,Britton,Shelvey,Poz De Guzman Vazques Bony,Michu,Monk,Rangel, Routledge, Canas, Vorm That starting line up is not our first team at all, but it should be good enough to give Birmingham a game...Then we can bring on the big guns if needed, to keep things fresh.
Tickets are still available and details of roadworks for travelling Jacks - http://www.swanseacity.net/news/article/cup-ticket-update-1072353.aspx
Arsenal game is far more important. Hopefully michu will get a break. Would be nice to see Poz and Donnelly together.
No - you are better off catching the bus
Jesse Lingard, on a one month loan to Birmingham from Man U, looks like their best player after putting 4 past Dave Jones's Sheffied Wednesday side on Saturday. I'm not sure if he is allowed to play cup games but if he is, our defence will need to keep a close eye on him.
I think our second string against Birmingham should be enough to get us through this round. They are not doing great in the championship at the moment and our second string is basically our rotated first team anyway!
Very ture, the M27 & M3 is bloody gridlocked in the mornings all the way to A34. But better to get the train!!
I don't think we have a "second string" team, since ML operates a rotation policy where all players are expected to pick up where others have left off, without showing the join. It's a great system, and is what makes Swansea City so special.
I agree. First time in years I think we have been able to say that we have real quality depth to our squad. Our first year in the prem was fortunate as a few key injuries there would have left us right in the muck. If that we to happen now though im always confident that we have the quality to step in and still be comfortable and competitive.
