I wouldn't if it was my decision ...thought we played more attacking football with Di Canio than we ever did with O'Neill
Thats a negative there, Big Daddy. MoN had no motivation, no drive, no desire. Our squad would go back to the car wrecking, overweight slackers as before Di Canio. Then we might aswell start preparing for life in the Championship.
This couldn't get much funnier, but I think the Wally in the Brolly really would be the cherry on top.
I honestly don't think Steve McClaren would be that bad. He did really well at Boro, did really well with Twente first time, did ok at Twente second time... The black stains on his CV are Wolfsburg and England. And the England criticism was overblown - the players were just as much to blame, if not more. But then again, I thought Bruce would do really well, and I thought MON would be amazing, and I thought PDC was just what we needed. Turns out I'm simply far too optimistic and excitable to make any sound judgement on a manager...
Look. If Steve McClaren can't be bothered to leap a barbed wire fence on the Swiss frontier using a german motorbike, how can you expect him to pull us out of these clarts. Get James Coburn in. He moved from Germany to France to Spain - unbeaten. x
Think people have very selective memories regarding McLaren. Not a bad manager at all and considering he did a fine job with Boro and Twente (the two clubs which I would suggest were most equal to Sunderland regarding expectations and level of players) I think he would be an alright appointment. He also brought through alot of good youth at Boro and gave them playing time. He stuttered when given his big chances at England and Wolfsburg but the England job makes everyone look incompetent as the team simply isn't as good as the nation thinks it is! I would back him more than the likes of Pullis, Poyet, Meulensteen, etc and the only candidate I would suggest was 'better' would be RDM, though he's more of an unknown really. His record in the Premiership was far from great and a so-so managerial career understandably (and perhaps rightly, though its hard to say yet) overshadowed by the fantastic achievement of winning Europe. Though even Avram Grant almost did that...
People in glass houses, we'll never have the puppet, god and lord ashley Just aswell you got beat at home by hull on saturday or our forum would have been unbearable
"People in glass houses............" my arse. It is our job to enjoy your laughing stock of a club regardless how **** things are for us.
