Taken from today's Guardian "How the Italian must rue his board's failure to bow to repeated requests to sign Tom Huddlestone from Tottenham last month. Instead the powerful midfielder is shining at Hull." Unless Short gags PDC with "golden handcuffs" then I'm expecting a lot of crap to hit the fan.......I hope the players are named - just so we can monitor their performance and give them the same backing they afforded PDC.
Funny that the Guardian now blames the players etc too - when he was here they did nothing but slate us for having him as boss!!
I honestly believe that if Short bought the entire Barcelona side for PDC to manage, we would still be where we are. I really think he rubs players up the wrong way. I honestly doubt wether Huddleston would have made any difference at all...just another player that would have been pissed off by now
Well it must be our fault, ONLY 40,000+ every home game taken for granted. Have ANY of the players went to bigger clubs who left us ?, I don't think so. And talking of Huddleston, we have still not got the right back or left back as well as the creative midfielder despite 14 players coming in. In Jan can we please sort them positions out ?.
Well he seemed to do okay in a couple of games which suggest your criticisms are overly harsh.(or did the Mags game not mean that much to you?) If it were not for some individual errors on the pitch we could have beaten Palace and Southampton. The criticism of PDC is well documented - the players seem to be absolving themselves of any blame for the predicament. Do I need to point out their passing has not even been second rate, its third or fourth at best - regardless of the manager, just checking their bank balance, driving their flash car or opening the door to their palaces should be motivation enough to play a little better than they have managed this season.
It could be argued that maybe the reason Huddleston didn't want to come was more to do with his appreciation of PDC's management style and that they could not work together. I'm disappointed that PDC did not work out but there is no doubt the signs were there...great results against the toon and everton last season and then nothing and some luck to keep us up. This season has been a disaster despite the fact we have, arguably, a far better pool of players than before yet are achieving less. PDC is the man in charge of playing success and therefore responsible yet there was no indication of turning a corner. You can argue there was a lot of bad luck in there, but I'm one of those pragmatists who believe you make your own luck..we have scored 4 goals and let in 15, some really really bad goals, something badly was wrong
"PDC is the man in charge of playing success and therefore responsible " - responsible if the players were playing to his tactics which they were not. "yet there was no indication of turning a corner." - five games and we played some neat passing football in all of the games at times. Roberge went to sleep against Fulham, didn't JOS give away the free kick from which Soton equalised and JOS again had a brain fart against Palace when we were on the up. And how do you account for the referee against Arsenal. Sacked after 5 games, it was too soon.
I don;t necessarily disagree I just think there was an awful lot more to the sacking than the 5 game 0 wins - Niall Quinn has said the same - it wasn;t down to simply the results - they just made it easier - it was his off field antics - we know the stuff he did publicly to the cameras but don't know what he was like on the training ground or speaking to the board etc. It could be one of many number of things which led to the dismissal
Now I've heard everything? Failure to buy Tom 'fat& always injured' Huddlestone is the reason it's all gone tits up? If MoN had try to sign him there are some on here that would have exploded with rage at buying past it old English has beens. The model we now have is fine. The man to manage it wasn't. We have now changed that and we move on.
Huddlestone is 26. He may be many things, but past it he is not. At least with PDC gone, there is a chance of seeing Cabral coming back into midfield.
Happy to move on fella, if you will to - still dredging up MON I see - let it go Cest. Did I say that the failure to buy Huddlestone was the sole reason - I don't believe I did, it was an illustration that PDC did not have final say over the signing of players and as such De Fanti should be holding his hands up - I;m not saying De Fanti should be sacked also, but he must acknowledge PDC did not have control over all the signings. The truth will out Cest, it will be interesting, very interesting.
3 managers, millions spent plummeting us into the red, best players sold to get us into the black. over the top contracts and now we can't sell the useless ****s. Giving managers 13 games. If this was Bob Murray then there'd be hell on. ****ING HELL ON!!!! It's high time we stopped feeling in debt to Ellis, We've stuck with him through every mistake without a grumble. Just when did we all become a bunch of bitches?
There are 70'000'000 million reasons to be thankful to PDC for, that is the amount of money we will rake in for being in the premiership this season. A far too higher percentage of this will be used to line the pockets of the players, who to be honest are not worth a tenth of what they get paid.
Think you're missing the point, Tom Huddlestone is irrelevant, it's what he represents. We know he was paolo's top target, he was also obtainable and available. Does that not tell you anything about the way transfers were conducted? Short was quite willing to deny paolo, and refuse to put his hands in his pocket while selling our best players without sanctioning suitable replacements. Paolo has gone, it's done, maybe he had to go maybe, he didn't, irrelevant now. The Board is relevant because it's still here and clearly hasn't got a ****ing clue what it's doing, Ellis, Maggie, Hold your ****ing hands up to your mistakes instead of putting it all on Paolo, then get a ****ing grip.
