Racing not the greatest but winners still to be found; Racing from Kempton, Leicester, Hamilton & Tipperary

    14.00 Leics- Seefat- 7/1

    She was only beaten a head when having an dodgy run when being bumped and banged to the front at Ffos Las and providing she gets a clear run here she can make her presence felt.

    14.30 Leics- Balders Success- 16/1

    Small e/w on him tomorrow. Rated 149 over hurdles and the run at kempton lto would have kicked him in togear, very talented horse on his day and at 16/1 I can see him runnign in to the places for some decent place money

    16.00 Leics- Fitz Flyer- 10/1

    He stayed on strongly to take third out of 16 at Ascot last time behind DUngannon and though up 1lb for that effort, he seems to be hitting form at the right time;

    thanks woolcombe, in the 2 00 Leicester i think it may be significant that Varian sends Herbah here again, with Atzeni booked , a level start would surely see this beast in the money at least--good luck to all who play......

    Me too stick! He went from being right up ther in the betting and beibg bit of an uknown in 2012s triumph hurdle to being a right liberty to put any money on. This may be a bit of a rebuidling process for him he is a good horse on his day but just needs his day to fall again

    Re that Balder Succes Alan King has said in the past that he is much better in small runner affairs as he doesn’t like to be crowded and jostled. That was a huge contributory factor as to why the stable ran him in last season’s ‘cut up’ Champion Hurdle rather than the County Hurdle / Coral Cup with 2 dozen or so runners.

    Certainly seems to be confirmed by his form figures since his first novice win in this land. In fields of single digits he’s -11313U but in fields of 10+ he’s –FU0855. Maybe, today, the saddle monkey will kick the old boy in the belly, on exiting the stalls, and ask him to make all and thus give him an easy passage out front.

    The silks are right but the horse wrong! His other one with the forum’s favourite trainer...old boy Lieutenant Miller. Looks thrown in off 91 and providing either of the top 2 stands there ground (and should do as Aaim To Prosper is being targeted at the hat-trick) then he will have less than 8 and half stone to carry!

    His hurdles mark of 120 looks pretty workable too - might be one to keep the right side of in both codes <ok>

    I do wonder at the German Electoral system - old girl Angie Merkel gets 42% of the vote with her CDU/CSU Union and now has to scratch around for a coalition partner to build a government. She failed narrowly to get the required absolute majority to govern alone and requires a partner to give her the majority to form a government. Trouble is, her usual "partners in crime", the FDP (Liberals) failed to secure 5% of the vote, which is a pre-requisite for any party to gain seats in the government. Merkel now has 3 options - (1) go with ex-communist party "Die Linke" --> hell would have to freeze over; (2) Form a "grand coalition" with the SPD (German equivalent of the Labour party) --> we had this 2 governments ago and it stifled reform as they couldn't agree on anything; or (3) form a coalition with the Green Party. This is the most interesting for me, but I think Angie will plump for the "safe" option (2) with the SPD.

    Ironically, if Merkel's 3 potential coalition partners (Linke, SPD and Green) chose to join forces THEY would have an absolute majority and Merkel and her CDU/CSU Union would be forced across to the opposition benches <yikes> - unlikely this will happen though as the SPD have already (very publicly) stated that they would never work with the Linke as they are "not capable of forming a government".

    Anyway, back to sleep ...........................
