So we've lost our first game. Some could say we could see it coming. A few points to consider about our performance this season. * We've been lucky in most of our wins to come away with 3 points. * We've been majorly disappointing in 2nd halves. For me there are more positives. * We've got all our points despite not playing our best. * We all would have taken 10 points at this stage before the season started. * Being top there was only one way we could have gone. * I'm confident that we are yet to see us play to our best and for 90 minutes. *So until then, I would happily take being 'in the mix' before the team and tactics come together. Yesterday was a bad day at the office. Had we got the penalty things might have been different. BR got the team completely wrong, I at least hope that he now knows who to drop and who should be our proper back 4. Suarez is back, Moses looks good. Let's move onto the next game. Sunderland look ****, this would normally mean we would give charity points to the underperformers of the league. Time to test our character.
We drew 13 of our games last season. I'd have gladly split that in half and lost half and won half meaning we would of had more disappointment but also more points. As long as we win more than we draw or lose, I will gladly take the losses and give up an 'unbeaten' run for more points!
If we don't make the most of it this season, we won't know when the next opportunity would be. Can't see us being above Arsenal or Spurs this season, so we might have to settle for finishing above Utd.
Think the season is progressing pretty much the same as the end of last season, Arsenal, Everton and Spuds still playing well Liverpool have got some good results but form has dropped off a little, Chelsea are sticking in there despite not being great and man city are running hot and cold. Only change is Man utd have been poor in the big fixtures however they have had the hardest start to the season. Really looking forward to the rest of the season, could be a real rollercoaster for us, and the most exciting and open PL season maybe ever!!
Whilst it's nice to have a laugh at United's situation, the league has yet to settle down and making great predictions is more than slightly premature. What is more than slightly discouraging is the continuous sniping of the 'realists' amongst us. For goodness sake, we have never been able to put out our best 11 so far. Whilst we have not yet played a full 90 minutes there have been some very encouraging passages of play. Sisockho, Sakho and Moses all show some great potential. Coutinho has not hit the same heights as last season but is still worrying defences. Sturridge has shown that he is one of the best strikers in the country. So the glass is far more than half full. To top all of that off Suarez is now available. Like him or loathe him we have to accept that he is the one true worldclass player that we have and is likely to help us win far more games. So, sod the fence. We jumped it during the second half of last season. Now we need to push on.
