Think it's more a case of his unconventional style and methods being under the spotlight due to **** results. He may just be an impact manager with insufficient guile and patience to figure out how to win games. He was fast tracked from Lg 1 and that was always a gamble. Short for me has the lion's share of the blame with such a left-field appointment.
I once has the misfortune to be driving back from the Northeast and listened to their version of Sportstalk with Supermac as Matt Dean and Horswill in the Gwilym role. I think he might be at a loose end though now. http://www.thepetitionsite.com/2/remove-micky-horswill-from-39the-legends39/
It was clear to most that PDC was a shocking appointment in the first place – apart from the Sunlan fans – who lauded him and got the tats to prove it. PDC, in my opinion, doesn’t have what it takes to manage effectively at a club like Sunlan, not yet anyway. However, I can’t help but feel he’s been treated hastily and shoddily. Also, it seems like the board have reacted to not only the poor results and the media campaign, but perhaps more shockingly, those repellent misshapen pissants who were gesturing at him yesterday from the safety of their seat. Whoever Sunlan appoint (and I say that because it won’t be anyone sufficiently capable to ultimately satiate their fans) the cycle will continue. New manager – messiah – cash on new signings – belief they’re a top 6 club - dip – sacking – new manager etc etc.
Inevitable - he had lost the dressing room and some coaching staff. Even with him going they have a real hard struggle to create a cohesive team. Ellis Short must take a huge chunk of the responsibility.
Elmo must be so glad that he got out of that madhouse and playing on a good team for a top manager who appreciates him. Wonder if Jozy will become available in January??
Again, what about Poyet? I can see that one happening. EDIT: I see AKCJ has also thought of that one.
I don't have a strong opinion about Di Canio's management; someone has to be bottom after all and it's not like he's managing one of the top clubs. But to let him bring in all those players, change the playing style and alter the whole focus of the team to being ultra-fit (apparently?) and sell some key players too and then sack him only a few weeks into the season is just ridiculous. Either give him time or if they didn't want him don't give him the job! I don't think this will necessarily turn them around. If they don't pick up some results soon they'll find it hard to claw their way back.
I said almost exactly this to my pal who supports Sunderland back in May, wish I'd had a bet on him to be first sacking in the top flight!
