Totally man. Ideally we could sign a utility back with a left foot to steer him in the right direction. Any ideas on that? He struggles in the air occasionally, but all he has to do is get his positioning right and then it´s not an issue.
I think he'd be silly to move, especially after Leon moving and the others. I think that Taylor has shone through with our style which isn't emulated anywhere but Arsenal really so he'd be silly to go to a diferent club where it's likely he wouldn't shine. Look at Bessone to Leeds for example. If he goes who can we get in?
come on tailor is not worth a million quid at this present moment but he could be in the future, id snap the toons hand of for a million quid with add ons, and a sell on clause, there are better out there to risk selling him for that price.......
Neil Taylor has cracking potential!!! I think Brendan needs to sit down with him and tell him our plans for the future. I do not understand why people think Newcaslte are a BIG club? They have not won a REAL trophy in years! Yes they have a massive fan base but why do people compare them with the likes of Chelsea, Manchester United, Liverpool etc! Scott Sinclair and Taylor could have something special in the PL and I hope he stays but money is the most powerful motive in the world!!!
750,000 profit at the very least , I'd certainly be considering a sale if I had a premier League left back in mind as a replacement . 750,00 of the profit & 1,250,000 of our own money gets you a pretty good left back at 2,000,000. Don't get me wrong , I want to keep Taylor as much as the next guy but gift horses must be dealt with . And like superswan says , a sell on would be gravy .
The 1 million release clause, would seem to be another blunder in our very ropy contract policy, on the plus side Huw Jenkins is good at bolting the door down (Bodde, Derby/Bolton) on these predatory attacks for our players, but if he is stupid enough, to go to Newcastle, with they're fickle board, then serve his right, he'll deserve all the watching of games he gets, he'll be another Bessone, by the way where is he now!................. please log in to view this image
I would be surprised if the club didn't do everything in it's power to keep Taylor,I would have thought he would be instrumental in our plans to stay in the PL.
Would be a huge shame if we lose him for 1M because of this alleged clause. The only positive is that its very early days which will give us an opportunity to replace him with quality.
Would love it if he stays as he is good now and has all the potential to be a quality premiership defender. But if he is going to be sold I would hope it would be between the £2 - £3 million mark as if it was anything lower we wouldn't be making that much profit after the £150,000 we had to pay Wrexham and the 10% they would get from this sale. Plus the higher he goes for the more Wrexham would get which would be good. It may seem a high price given no premiership experience but if he could get in one really good season in the Premiership his value would sky rocket! Look at Carroll and Henderson...loads of potential, one good season with an average club and Caroll went for £35 million and Henderson is being valued at £20 million. I know you cant really compare the players directly with so many variables but 1 good season and you would be lucky to get into the same city as him for a million lol
Guys, whilst i hope taylor does not go. i am not so sure that i am as gutted as all you about him going. Yes he has had a fine first season. Yes i think he would be close to being first choice. Personally i think Rogers would have stregnthened there and i also think for 1 million there are better and more proven left backs out there. I hope he stays but if he thinks the grass is greener then bye bye. There are other full backs out there who would welcome the challenge at our wonderfull club.
Since Swansea have reached the PL we've been talking about transfers IN unfortunately transfers OUT hasn't been in our minds (or purposly blanked it from our minds ) and i am worried that before the start of the season there will be several of our high profiled players being targeted by clubs that can give players much better wages than we can.
Yeah, Ash for 1 million, dream on! Also, the story was originally that there was a 1 million release clause in his contract, and now Jenkins is saying the bid is "under consideration" or whatever it was, and if the clause did indeed exist it would be nothing other than accepted! I think if he does go we´ll get more than a million for him.
He never broke anything, he said that Taylor had agreed terms etc, plainly that is not true as nothing has been decided, obviously he has heard something from the lad's agent or some other leach like person, and if the same leech represents ash he is trying for a deal so he can get his fee and take it out of football! There is no way on earth either player will go for £1m , ash is worth 5 times that alone , Taylor probably a couple of million, I don't believe that the club will sell anyone, we will let players go yes, but not anyone in the first team.
Why would he want to go to Toon land when Nolan has rejected a 2 year extension to his current deal and Newcastle have withdrawn from all negotiations with Joey Barton! Not a positive sign!
Whilst Pardew hasn't had an opportunity to show his hand at NUFC since becoming the manager and may actually want to mix things up a lot, as far as things go with Barton and Nolan, I suspect it's more to do with a clueless owner and a few mercenary agents trying to optimise contracts of players who are being too optimistic with their marketability at significant points in their 1st team playing careers.
Jenkins said there were others interested in Taylor . If him & Buck can't can't steer Taylor back our way , Huw will unleash everyone who wants him on each other & move on to bigger things with the cash raised . I sure he'll want to stay though .
I wouldn´t offer Barton a penny. The guy can play, but he´s a scumbag and I don´t think he should be rewarded for it... although I doubt that is Pardews reasoning in not offering a contract. I just don´t see the Taylor to Newcastle thing, I could be wrong but I don´t get the point in it.
