With you on this one, we're beginning to make the unwashed up the road look like sensible supporters.

If Paolo get's the sack tomorrow then should I point the blame at Ellis Short? Why? Because since he arrived he's gone through 3 managers, put us into debt, sold our best players to reduce the debt and starved our present manager of the funds to bring enough quality in to replace those we've sold and to show some progression. Signed multiple players and give them contracts with wages so high we can't even sell them.

Why not? If we're talking about the people with responsibility needing to face the consequences then why the hell not? Why should this attitude just extend to Paolo? What about Di Fanti? What about Angeloni? What about Margaret Byrne? What about Ellis?

Paolo isn't doing himself any favours but to blame everything on him off 12 games reeks of excuses. I got carried away this summer and I painted my own ideal over the truth. Think most of us did. But at one point in time, at the end of last season we were all united in the opinion that this football club was in an absolute ****ing mess and there was no overnight fix and we were going to struggle like hell this season. Then the early signings rolled in and we all got carried away. This is how I see it. I'm quite embarrassed I got so caught up.

We've set ourselves up for this fall. I feel silly.

It's the same problem Steve Bruce & Martin O'Neal had, we are only good for 45 minutes, when I say good I may be stretching it a bit because on most occasions it's a poor first half, followed by a not so poor second half!

Yeah, Add the players to that list, why not. It's a collective disaster.

On Paolo? I'd give him more time. He's worked his fingers to the bone in his short time here, bet he's put more hours in than MoN did the whole time he was here. He deserves some time imo.

Whoever the manager I think 20-30 million is in order to bring two or three players off real quality in january.

What if january is too late? Then its ellis's fault for being a tight wad? Because as far as i can see we are the only established club that didnt spend big apart from the nags, but they still brought a £100k pw player in

    Who brought the players in?
Who brought in the dof & scouts who brought the players in?
The players Paolo actually named as wanted are the ones he didn`t get.

I`m with Bri on this one. imo it goes to the top.

I think most of our present problems lie at Ellis' feet to be honest. been thinking long and hard about it. He's who we should be having the problem with. He's not approaching away fans and putting his hands up, he's not talking to the press everyday and taking full responsibility. the odd program rallying call isn't enough. If Paolo gets sacked so be it, but there's nobody taking the bullets for Ellis then, and when the manager can't wave a magic wand maybe fans will start looking in his direction answers.

I'll be pissed off if he gets the sack

He's the only manager who hasn't had the opportunity to spend big and he might get the sack 5 games into the ****ing season.

As I said we're becoming a joke club 3 managers in less than a year is shocking stuff

Suppose he does go, it kinda feels like a win for the witchhunt mob.

Exactly. It's clear Di Canio wanted Huddlestone

I'm all for the new scouting system with getting youngsters and players like Altidore and Giaccherini

But if a manager specifically identifies a player as a key target we should just buy the bastard

Whether it was De Fanti or Short who decided against it they sold Di Canio short imo.

He doesn't have the type of team he thought he would so it's obviously very difficult

    Exactly

All these dickhead pundits such as Lawrenson will be proved right and that angers me. It shows that we're becoming like all the other teams who sack managers after hardly any time. It makes me sick

I can appreciate what Short did this summer in trying to move us forward with the fresh approach, getting rid of the old techniques under MoN but it's now clear to me that because of our poor core of our squad (different types of players for different managers, another downside of chopping and changing managers) sigining players on a tight budget isn't going to help us at all

Di Canio this summer wasn't allowed to make his mark with big money signings like MoN and Bruce both had the luxury of doing

We need to stick with Di Canio and allow him to build HIS squad and HIS team. Then it would be fair to judge... not now

Evening Gents, been away all weekend with limited WiFi, I know the result but the thing I cannot get my head around is the substitutions this bloke makes. Why does he always make subs in or around the beginning of the 2nd half. So by the last 15mins when Fletcher gets injured we have no one, so we face WBA with 10 men with the score at 1-0 had he of been a little more thoughtful and made only 2 we still would of had a chance.

P.S - How did Cattermole do when he came on??
