Don't want to put any negative spin out there on what's basically a cracking day, but only just really caught on to the fact that one of the posters here, namely NorthLondonSaint, has said that JP moved back towards home with Crystal Palace because his mother was terminally ill. Now I know that NLS has a fairly significant track record of spouting bollocks, but to be honest, coming up with something like this and posting it on a public forum, when in fact it IS NOT TRUE I think is nothing short of disgraceful. Sorry about that, but that's just my opinion. However I wanted to put a post out there should anyone with empathy be concerned for JP, his mother doesn't have a terminal illness. Please can we not speculate as to what the "family reasons" are, but worse than that, can people refrain from putting potentially damaging and upsetting speculation dressed up as fact on this site. If nothing else, you don't know who's reading, and saying things like that can actually cause problems. Particularly when untrue. Cheers!
Agree. People don't know the exact "personal reasons". They exist... yeah, it seemed so. But that post was uncalled for, as you say. Jason's step-dad did set up an account on here at one point...
Sick rumour to spread. He should be ashamed of himself. Personally I feel like the whole thing is very unclear. Puncheon said in an interview after Crystal Palace vs Sunderland that "the most important thing for any footballer is to play football and that's what I'm doing now and I'm glad for that". There is an article on BBC (here: http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/23779710) which actually says "Puncheon has moved in order to seek first-team football says Southampton". There's other quotes from Puncheon on the Mirror saying "I actually played for Crystal Palace as a kid when I was eight," "I left and there were a few times in my career that I was due to come back but didn't. Now I'm here that's the main thing. I've always as a young kid dreamed of playing at Selhurst Park, so it's a young boy's dream coming true. 'I know Ollie [Holloway] really well. He was a massive factor in this move. He knows the league. He's done it before and I think he will learn from his time at Blackpool and bring it into the team here.' My gut feeling has always been that the loan move was for footballing reasons because he wanted regular football and he couldn't get that here. The same thing happened when we were in League One. He joined Holloway then at Blackpool. I don't see it as a coincidence that he's joined Holloway twice. Both times Holloway had just got his team promoted to the Premier League. And both times Puncheon had been phased out the starting lineup by a youngster (Ward-Prowse this season and Ox back in 2011).
No, there are personal reasons (as well). That much is true. I really don't want to start that discussion up again because it's been done ad nauseum, and there are personal reasons. I was just objecting to someone making something up on a forum of that nature and wanted to tell people that it wasn't true.
Is this true, LTL, that NorthLondonSaint posted this misinformation..? I take an extremely dim view of that sort of behaviour, and I'm sure fellow mods do as well. I'd like to see this post, if you can find it. To be honest, I thought we'd banned him anyway. Is he operating under another name..?
Sadly yes - http://www.not606.com/showthread.php/225595-Puncheon-to-Palace/page6?highlight=puncheon It's a ****ty thing to do even if it were true. To do that when it's rubbish is pretty low IMHO. The confirmation that it isn't true is from today from Jason's mum and step-dad in case you wanted veracity on that side.
Take that tampon out of your ****ing arse. I was just saying what i was told i dont really see the problem here you should be happy its not true yet you seem to be angry.
Yeah that's the way to make him change his mind on you. No sorry for being wrong, it's that's type some abuse instead.
its more that its not pleasant to be speculating about someone's family. Its an internet forum and doesn't need to be taken too seriously but I would suggest you don't comment on someone's personal life even if it supposedly affects the club.
Did it need to be posted on here? If you were told, you should have kept it private, not posted it on an internet forum.
Obviously i can see why its an issue but lets be serious now its not really a topic to make a whole thread on and then go on to write all this **** for posting a rumour which i thought was true. Now if i was to speak to Jason or his family i would apologise but the rest of you lot can **** off
Look, I don't want anyone banned or anything like that - the reason I started a thread on it is that there may be people who were concerned by that. People like a friend of mine who is a friend of Puncheon's family who was, naturally, worried when I mentioned that this had been said. The point is, if it was a rumour, then at the very least you should have said "It's only a rumour, but....." - instead you posted it as if it were fact, and that's not right. Anyhow, let's draw a line under it.
Fair play, its probably worth having a puncheon anti-rumour thread in any case. I also don't want to see people banned for expressing unpopular or unsavoury views, far better for them to talk freely and have their views dealt with in a civilised way.
I posted it thinking it was true! I feel bad about making people worried and i obviously regret posting it but i said it thinking it would soon become well known that his mother was ill. Whats pissed me off is the way everyones just attacked me as if id purposely make up a rumour about someone's mother dying and you all seemed to assume this without even talking to me.
Reading back on my comment i have also realised that even if it was true i shouldn't of posted it in case it was meant to be kept within the family
