Fairly good first half performance, relatively even although Liverpool have been having a bit more possession than we normally allow other teams. They definitely should have had a penalty and the ref has been kind to us on a few occasions. Clyne has been excellent, as has Lallana and I think Osvaldo looks sharp. Shaw and Rodriguez not really in the game, most of the play seems to be coming down our left. We're certainly in with a shout of getting something here, although Liverpool do look dangerous on the break.
Decent if unspectacular half from our perspective. Wanyama's passing and control have looked poor again, giving the ball away easily. Thought Lovren got a little toe on the ball for their penalty shout but I'd have to see it again. Lambert's chance was difficult, with Skrtel's foot closing in he seemed to snatch at it, but had he waited it may have been blocked anyway. Liverpool look dangerous but we've defended pretty well again, Clyne's looking after Moses very well. Great save by Boruc for Gerrard's free-kick. Not sure how long we'll be able to keep them out though, would be happier if we looked more threatening ourselves! Again the forwards look a bit isolated, but they're pressuring Liverpool's four centre-backs well, obviously realising they're not as good on the ball as the full-backs would be. Delicately poised game.
Don't agree at all about Shaw. He's got the toughest job on the pitch against Sturridge and is doing his bit. We are nil-nil away to the league leaders, at Anfield of all places, and looking pretty good. I wonder if people remember the last time we were in the Premier league at all. This would have been a mauling... It was always a mauling...
I was fairly happy with that half, though the ref is terrible and that should have been a pen. He missed some other obvious calls as well. I thought he moved the wall back a ridiculous amount, giving Gerrard an easy shot that Boruc made an outstanding save on. Boruc and Osvaldo were outstanding. The rest of the team was pretty good.
Like to see j rod vs sakho. Osvaldo has undoubted skill but little motivation to win possession high up the pitch. Like most games saints looking the better team but jt creating the clear cut chances and enevitably will get punished. Moses looks strong.
I already love osvaldo. We are playing decently although lucky to not be losing, amazing save and definite penalty. Not sure if we will win but we have improved a lot and the way the defence has got back so quickly and in an organised way has been impressive.
I still like the idea of having Jay to run the channels with Liverpool's not-so-pacey CBs, but it hasn't happened so far. Should that continue to be the case for the first 10-15 minutes after halftime, we should bring on Gaston.
Spot on. I liked starting Rodriguez for the reasons you mentioned, but he hasn't been getting it done.
Take all of your words for the performance (on 5 live), I also would like Gashton to get some decent game time and hopefully ping some passes to Osvaldo. Still like Jay Rod though.
