Spot on, those two posts. I was one of the ones who thought we could get relegated again this season and I'm over the moon with our start to the season. As Matt says, we give out all day long about throwing money at the wrong type of player yet when we do it the other way, IE cautiously picking players who are hungry to play for us, we slate the Manager and the Club for not signing every player mentioned on a Tabloid sheet. Can't win
I was just about to say the same thing. There won't be a mention of the 90% of other doomsday scenarios that won't come through. Even a broken clock is right twice a day.
1. What about our under 21s defenders. Anyone who can sit on the bench and do 20 mins at the end when we are 3 up. 2. Henry now needs to play most games to cover CM. 3. Expect a 20 year old Spurs/Arsenal loanee any day now. The new Kyle Walker. 4. Expect an even more defensive approach to our play 5. Result 3-4 tomrorow !
Baird certainly was? I guess we could always try and tempt back Big Danny ****tu from Millwall, a poor mans' Chris Samba?
I agree with this. We are at least being consistent with our wages policies now albeit two years too late!
What did we get when we "paid" players to come and join? **** all with relegation on top! The reason we're top is because the management team has got the reqruitment policy spot on. Finally we have the chemistry needed to win matches. The players have to fit into every category required, desire, wages and ability. That's why I know when we sign players now, whoever they are, they are going to fit in and perform.
I'm only saying it at the time so people can't accuse me of being captain hindsight when the inevitable happens.
Just how serious can a hamstring be? Are there any medics among us? I'm starting to pray for the international break to come quickly now. After Barnsley there's a 2 week gap to get a couple of people fit. Sounds like Nedum's could be a 6 week job?
Hamstring is weeks to months. Hoilett came back too soon and redid his. Onuohas is a bad one and looks like 2 to 3 months. Fair play to him carrying on and clearing the ball.
This is the highest grade of strain: "Hamstring Injury Grade 3 A grade 3 hamstring strain will take three to five weeks for proper recovery. A person with a grade 3 strain may have trouble walking without assistance, i.e., crutches. Also there will heavy swelling in the area of the strain. Do not play golf or perform any activity during this recovery time. If you re-strain the muscle the recovery time wil have to start all over again." Even if you add a couple of weeks to get up to match fitness, that only makes it 5-7 weeks. Edit: Christ just seen drogs post... Oh dear oh dear. 6 months!
Lets pray for a grade 2 Grade 2 Hamstring Strain With a grade 2 hamstring strain your walking pattern will be affected and you will most likely be limping. Sudden twinges of hamstring pain during activity will be present. You may notice some hamstring muscle swelling and your hamstring will be tender to palpate. It will also be painful for you to bend your knee against resistance. Recovery Time 4 - 6 weeks Grade 3 Hamstring Strain A grade 3 hamstring strain is a severe injury involving a tear to half or all of the hamstring muscle. You may need crutches to walk and will feel severe pain and weakness in the muscle. Swelling will be noticeable immediately and bruising will usually appear within 24 hours. Diagnostic MRI may also be used to specifically identify the grade of hamstring tear and its exact location. Recovery Time 6 months
I much prefer your one Grifter! Hopefully the site I got that info from is way off http://www.sportsplus.ie/hamstring-injuries/
I have been saying for ages that we are well short in options for CB and ST (just not as loudly as Flyer!), and unfortunately it has happened within 3 weeks of the transfer window closing. Whilst Harry did a superb job in the summer, I am surprised he went with 3 CB's (one being Dunne who hadnt played for a year) and 3 ST's (two being injury prone). It has left us with major problems now. 17 fit players for tomorrow is not good. And Barton is on 4 yellows, so one away from a ban. This could be our undoing this year, and could stop us from picking up vital points in the next few matches. Strong team yes, strong squad no. We simply dont have enough numbers for a 46 game season.
It sounds like the grade 3 you described is a partial/complete rupture of the entire hamstring, which Wikipedia informs me often requires surgery... I find it hard to believe he's suffered an injury of that severity, or there's no way he'd have managed to keep chasing that ball down/walk off of his own volition. This is all just surmising, but i'd imagine he's at the more serious end of the 4-6 week bracket. Add on a couple of weeks for rehab and maybe 8 weeks isn't out of the question... I suppose if the club announce any time soon that Onouha's had an op, we should all be worried. You'd have thought anything like that would happen at the earliest possible opportunity though, so perhaps if there's no news over the next few days, a collective sigh of relief can be breathed.
