Thought I'd put it in poll format - should be interesting. My first game (that resulted in sparking my fanaticism) was in 1993. We beat Bradford 3-0 at Carrow Road in the second leg of the Coca-Cola Cup 2nd Round (won 4-2 on aggregate). Ekoku, Fox and Sutton were the scorers. A good era to start being a Canary I guess!
You could do a similar one for Lech Poznań - and put it in a Pole format <scarpers right quick emoticon>
I had my first season ticket for the 97/98 season at the age of 7, had a season ticket then permanently until I went to university in 2009 so the last full season I saw was when we got relegated. Have been to at least one game of every season since though and have started going to away games.
My first game was a 2-1 win over West Brom in December 1999. Kevin Kilbane scored the first goal I ever saw live. I have no idea who scored for Norwich... I didn't start being interested until our incredible run at the end of the 2001/02 season, though, where we won a ridiculous amount of games on the bounce to finish 6th on the last day. I didn't go to the play-off final, but, at the age of just 8, was too nervous to watch the penalty shoot-out on TV, and cried when we lost. As a Norwich supporter, I don't think much will eclipse the 2010/11 season for me. The fact that we were chasing automatic promotion all season without ever knowing where we'd finish was very exciting, and the memories of the 3-2 win against Derby and 1-0 victory at Portsmouth and the ensuing pitch invasion will be memories I'll hold for a very long time. There's nothing like being a Norwich fan.
1967 - 1st game was at home to Rotherham - we won 1-0 with a goal from the great Tommy Bryceland.... hooked ever since
Just googled it, Iwan Roberts scored my first City goal. Was terrified it'd be someone I hadn't heard of! Wikipedia reckons 'Russell' scored the winner. Would that be Darel Russell or did we have someone else with that name before that? It'd surely be too early for Darel? Edit: It was Darel Russell!
1969 for me. A midweek match against Bristol City. I went home proudly telling everybody that we had won 1 - 1, because we were at home.
I mentioned this recently that the first game I actually remember was the 1-2 away at Old trafford v Manchester United (funnily enough) in the F A Cup. My main memories are standing at the River End getting soaked in the years before they put a roof on.
my first norwich match was in 1988 (87-88 season). we beat manchester united 1-0, goal scored by robert fleck. first away game was at millwall (of all places!) and again, the winner was scored by fleck - a stunning overhead kick in the final minute to take us top of the league. i've tried to keep a record of all the games i've been to - there's quite a few gaps but its roughly in the region of 800 norwich matches and around 1200 in total. 77 of the current football league grounds have been visited (though some of the grounds have changed now) and 134 stadiums in total
Started watching Norwich in the early70s. Had a slight wobble 74 to 77 when my dad was working in Germany and we used to watch the great Borussia Moenchengladbach side of the time (Alan Simonsen, Rainer Bonhof, Berti Voghts). At the time hooliganism was rife in the UK so matchdays in Germany were a far nicer experience.
early 1980s myself, first game was against everton, can't remember the score or the year, sat in the old south stand
Sept 1976 against Derby a wonderful 0-0 - all I can really remember is Tony Powell kicking the ball above the stands almost every time he got it. Went to about 6 games that season and stood on a box each time; last game for me that season was a 2-1 victory against Man utd. Mind you as a young boy seeing the utd fans try to demolish the Barclay was fecking scary and probably contributes to my life long hatred of them.
I was there that day Longsight and was chased down the road and we hid unceremoniously behind a couple of cars while the mob ran past. Beating them was just reward, bastards!
In those days Norwich Market was a completely different place, with many more stalls selling fruit and vegetables. On a Saturday, away fans would run through grabbing anything they could lay their hands on as they passed. The stall holders were resigned to it; their only strategy was to save any rotten fruit etc and put it out on the front of the stall. After a time the rampaging away fans sussed that out and grabbed stuff from further back.
