This, its pretty much obvious thats all he cares about, we should have thrown him out after a month of training with us, it was clear he wasnt going to sign unless he had no other choice.
So the mercenaries sign for us and the mercenaries snub us? He always struck me as a decent person so I'll hold fire on the sinister type-casting and assume length of contract might have been a major factor. Hope he plays when we visit Reading and we give him a torrid time though...
If he was such a good player to have around we would have taken him. Something behind the scenes (maybe money, maybe not) has stopped us from taking him on. We have had ample opportunity ... and declined.
He won't have an easy time getting into Readings team either, good luck to him but he'll be getting some stick and I hope we stuff Reading.
A decent person wouldnt hang around a club for 2 months and then jump ship right when that club needed him most. A decent person would have signed weeks ago to help out his team. We made a good offer, he only cared about money, fair enough but he was taking the piss by training with us for so long. He will end up losing money though because theres no way Readings offer will make up the 2.5 months wages he could have got if he signed earlier.
So the guy that's been training for free owes us a debt? Hasn't he also been adding competition to the training environment so, in some way, benefiting us? How do you know that we didn't offer him a 1 year deal and he thinks he's got 3 left in him? You seem very bitter over a 31 year old that no Premiership team seems to have wanted? Your cover has been blown Flyer - you secretly love the oldies don't you?
I don't care about him, its the fact us hanging on prevented us from signing someone else, imagine what an injury to dunne or hill will do to us.
So we were so blinkered in our pursuit of Chris Baird that other players weren't considered? For the last two months he's been with us? Does this exclusion stretch to all the position that utility man Baird covers? I'm surprised that didn't halt the hunt for anyone other than strikers or goalies then...
