Reckon we could see a loan striker coming in today.

With both BZ and AJ sidelined i reckon we could see a loan striker in before tomorrows game at Yeovil.

Not based on anything except the lack of goals and now only Charlie Austin left.

Possibilities - Harry Kane, Adeybayor, Peter Crouch. I'm going to throw Demba Ba and Conor Wickham into the mix.

Any others out there ?

Please no-one mention Kevin Phillips.

 

Isn't too late already, to get a striker in for Yoevil....I hope Kranjcar will play in a slightly on Austin's shoulder role

 

Harry Kane - maybe.
Adeybayor - v expensive and many reservation re attitude playing at this level.
Crouch - come home Peter, you know it makes sense!
Demba Ba - highly, highly unlikely. Especially from Chelsea.
Wickham - isn't he off the boil recently?
Defoe - we dream on.

 

Harry Kane coming in is the most obvious choice with respect to availability, although I have reservations over him being very similar to Charlie Austin with the way he plays.

Ideally I'd like a player similar to AJ, a smaller, very quick forward who plays on the last shoulder.

We've already got a Phillips and a Wright Phillips, what would be the harm in signing the wrong Phillips too?

Wickham is in Sunderland's squad. Many of those names would not come to be a number 2 striker in a one striker system. If Abedayour comes, Austin on the bench. etc.

 

I have the same expecations for Kane as I had for Townsend. After various indeferent loan spells Andros really was the dogs bollocks for us, hopefully Kane could make the same step.

 

There should be no hoping here now ... just quick direct action ... we are not shopping now and mulling over names ...

We were debating this at the game, Wright Philips should be the wrong Philips but we settled on left Philips and Wright/Right Philips.

I would hope its someone better than Kane and more proven. It would be typical that we get in some 19 yo the one time I wouldnt mind an old player because age doesnt really matter on a 3 month loan unless they are so old that they cant run.

 

Agree with DT here. There has been plenty of time to analyse targets and available players. Time to be decisive and purposeful. Get on with it!!!

 

Hopefully but I doubt it as there usually a big hint if something is in the works.
