Totally agree mate. 3 titles in 6 years for a county who only gained first class status 20 odd years ago. Chester le Street has played host to some wonderful sporting moments thus summer. Good times indeed.
I've watched Sky show some meaningless games of cricket over the last few weeks - almost avoiding Durham and it feels, once again, like the North East is completely ignored when it comes to success. Great achievement by the lads at Durham CCC - over the moon for all of them
looking forward to golf game I have arranged tomorrow morning..there is a big mouthed Yorkshire guy who reckons we are a non entity and Yorkshire would piss all over this championship...I need to get there nice and early with my best gloating grin on show
It's a tremendous achievement, a side tipped for relegation by the "experts" going on to win the championship. Made even more remarkable when you consider all 11 of the 12 players featuring in today's game have come through Durhams academy system (and all of these barring stokes from the North East to my knowledge).
I completely agree (although I don't think that Keaton Jennings can be said to be from the North East). Relegation favourites, starting the season with a points deduction, and the only county unable to afford an overseas professional this season.
Not a problem mate - they're all Jehovah's witnesses so Christmas is firmly spent with my family!! (The wife isn;t a Jehovah's witness)
Remember the old saying , "You can tell a Yorkshireman , but you can't tell him much". Tells you everything you need to know about Tykes.
Just got back from watching the lads win the title, first time since 1973 that I have been there to see a Durham team win at the highest level well done lads. Just a note as well Durham also won the Under 17 and Over 50's County Championships as well
i'm lucky, i've seen many a Durham success on a national level. Durham Wasps League championships, wembley finals, NEC finals. Won more trophies from 82 to 92 than Liverpool. Then that tw-t Sir John Hall bought them out and took them to scumvile, he thoughht the fans would follow did we fook. they went bust. just another reason to hate the Halls. cnuts. However well done durham c.c.c. PS I'm always proud of Durham, county & city.
Quality achievement after all they've been through. Well done Colly and all the chaps. Hope they tell BBC "Newcastle" to eff off
Was talking to a barcode at work yesterday and even he mentioned it and the fact that the only word on it was from the local news and about 20 seconds on SSN. No doubt in the cricketing fraternity they are all over it mind.
The fail today said 5 or 6 of the lads are home-grown townies! Just wish we could say the same for the SoL!
