Ebanks-Blake is currently out with a broken leg until October time... Holloway wanted him at Palace after working with him at Plymouth (dont know if it happened) http://www.express.co.uk/sport/foot...-Holloway-targets-injured-Sylvan-Ebanks-Blake
What do you mean if? You are the leader of the tiny little movement. Stop whinging about Chris Powell, it is getting boring mate. Every post you make has several parts that make absolutely no logical sense at all and when people point that out you just repeat yourself. Powell can only work with what he has. He might not be great with subs but he shouldn't be in a position where every time he makes a substitution it is to try and turn a loss into a draw or a sneaky win, the man has had nothing to sort his team out. Sordell appears utterly pants, but as has been pointed out several times already, who else could we have brought in?
Which points were illogical ? You claim all the decent signings are a credit to Powell (fair enough), but all the cack ones are somehow due to a lack of resources. You should post on CL. You get a lapel badge after ten pro Powell posts.
Can we please refrain from CL remarks and keep the post on topic. Everyone is as welcome as the next to post their views on here - let's keep it clean boys
I have already pointed out the clear flaws in what you have said. All the cack signings have essentially been loans that we have had to bring in because he cannot spend money he is not given. Dont see the point explaining how that all works to you yet again, you obviously cannot grasp it. As for "the other site" i wouldn't use it if you paid me. You say pro Powell posts, when what i have said is pro logic. It is pretty clear most people find your views unmerited, as some people have also pointed out to you. I dont know if it worries me or amuses me how wrong you are, to be honest it is both
Its your #opinion# that Powell has not been given the tools to do the job. Equally, it is my #opinion# that he has. As evidence for this, I have pointed to £650,000 ( see the Club accounts) spent by CC on Button and Wilson in June 2012. I also pointed to the free transfer of Jordan Cook, the free transfer of Ricardo Fuller on £12k a week wages, and the expensive loan signing of flop Sordell this season. I would be the first to admit that some of his initial signings including Yann, Wiggins and Morrison, were excellent. When you scrutinise it closely, the wheels have come off your analogy about Powell being a bus driver in charge of a bus with no brakes
The flip side to this argument is whether or not The Doctor will stay with us. In answer to a recent question about his contract, he said he wanted to see the players' contracts sorted before he got his own contract sorted. With the managerial merry-go-round drawing ever nearer, this doesn't fill me with too much confidence.
I like Wilson, he works hard and that is what people like Most about Pritchard so not quite sure why some people hate on Wilson.
I think with Wilson we've finally found a position for him that works in the 3-5-2 formation, dont know how he did against Huddersfield but he looked good there against Leicester and won the pen v Watford. Be a shame to have to drop him when Solly comes back from injury but he's good cover
Wilson's a good player. He was signed as competition for Solly and whoever was in possession at RM last season. He had an epic spell during that 6 match unbeaten run. Given a run I think we'll see the best of him.
I didnt at all rate Wilson when I first saw him but he has won me over with his hard work and versatility. For me he is good cover at both RB and RM but no more than that. He will never be first choice RB nor the most exciting RM but I see him as a very valuable squad player so well worth having for me. This new formation seems to suit Wilson perfectly, however when Solly is fit it doesnt a leave a place anywhere for him in the midfield.
I love the way Wilson floats a free kick with backspin so it seems to hover - he's very accurate with them as well.
I think it's cool too, but when it was against Leicester and a keeper of Kasper's quality they will claim them all day long
I would hardly say being given some cash to spend on Button and Wilson is last season has much to do with the fact he was given sod all this season, when we needed to strengthen after a big clear out. I am not trying to make it look like Powell is amazing, he obviously has areas he needs to improve on, but so does every manager in the world. People seem very quick to forget how long he has been in the management sode of things, possibly because we are so used to him being here in some capacity it feels like he has been in charge longer somehow? All i am saying, is if we do go down, i will not be putting that down to anything Powell has done. Even if he makes substitutions at the best time he still only has the same players to choose from, and the sad fact is this season, we are not very good. To put a positive spin on it though, if we do not go down, which is still very feasible, the youngsters will have earned some vital experience and could be exceptionally good next year. From day one, this season was going to be a very, very bumpy ride. I do feel it is a great shame that Powell is being questioned though, the man has done more than enough for me to show me he deserves to be given a long time to get us back to where we should be. Curbs was given time, and that was the most stable time for this club in terms of finance and league standing for a very long time. And Curbs had a few managerial weaknesses, particularly subs at times, but he made up for it with everything else. I would rather Powell here than anyone else at the moment. Let Powell go, and it will be another mercenary manager coming in and ruining everything again, and i really, really do not want that
If Powell was our manager for ten years I would be happy, because it would mean he was doing a good job. All I am saying is, don't give any one man a free hold to lord it over the Club, irrespective of his performance. In different circumstances, many fans did the same with Richard Murray from 2006-2010, wrongly IMO giving him the benefit of the doubt even when RM was himself standing up at fans meetings and admitting he had made an almighty mess of things.
I was at the meetings Billy. Trust me, RM admitted to cocking it up more than once fair play though, it was his money. I think his almost exact words were, " with hindsight, I have made mistakes and would do things differently" On another note regarding Our Views, did you ever post on the site ? Do you remember Tom Roden and Colin Steel ? Two great posters and real Charlton people. I wonder if they ever look in here, or post elsewhere ?
Tom Roden was at the pub for a drink, he was a pleasure to talk to. There was the husband and wife team of posters, Alison somebody but I'm hopeless at names, someone introduced himself to me last night and 2 minutes later I'd forgotten his name, a bit embarrassing. Houndal was on here for a while but I think he had a seizure when Bradford got promoted. I liked Your Views, but it was a bit over-moderated, and was also quite slow. A2C has been on 606, but he became a bit too obsessive, got banned, tried a couple of comebacks as CharltonPat and Red Flag, but found it too hard to hide his love of all things Millwall etc. and disappeared when he realised he had been recognised.
@ Billy That would be Alison Scrivener. She and her husband had more than marriage in common, they both hated my views ... People like Tom are what make Charlton a great club. I also used to enjoy John TOPLEY. He had a strange relationship with capital letters, but was always very polite with his character assasination.
