Tottenham man praises QPR and Harry Redknapp Tottenham Winger Andros Townsend admits he feared the worst when Spurs loaned him out for the 9th time in his career, say the Mirror. The boyhood Spurs fan has had a sensational start to the season after breaking through into the Spurs first team and being called up for the England team, a feat which has not been matched by many English players coming through the ranks at Spurs. Fear The 22 year old winger admitted he feared the worst when he was loaned out for the ninth time in his career to Queens Park Rangers, describing it as a make or break for him: âThe time I spent at QPR last season was massive for me. I would say it was almost make or break because it was my chance to show what I could do at the highest levelâ, he told the paper. Flourished However the decision to join up with his former employer was a fantastic one, he flourished at Loftus Road and was awarded with a man of the match performance on his debut against Norwich City. The Spurs graduate looked to be heading for the exits at White Hart Lane after being seemingly loaned out all over the country. Spurs chief Andre Villas-Boas was clearly impressed with the youngsterâs performances in the top flight at QPR under his Tottenham predecessor Harry Redknapp, which is shown by his willingness to start the winger in Spursâ last three league games. Self-confidence The winger has stated that his recent personal success is all down to his belief in his own ability. He told the Mirror: âI have confidence in my own ability, but until you show people you can play in the Premier League that counts for nothing.â
Looks like he's praising his own mental fortitude to me. Good player who clearly trains hard and deserves every success coming to him.
