So as we keep saying, stop commenting on it and let those of us who care about the topic discuss it between ourselves.
Looks like CI & Amber Nectar have got the ball rolling. Some great ideas on there. Obi, whose handing out them "No to Hull Tigers" stickers?
I really don't see the problem with it. This thread is specifically and explicitly for those of us interested in campaigning against the name change to discuss how we go about it. If people aren't interested in any campaign and in fact, as some seem to, actively dislike the idea of campaigning then they shouldn't be contributing to the thread. It's just wumming. We've had hundreds of threads about whether the name change is right or wrong and everyone has nailed their colours to the mast. It's been done to death. We know who wants to protest and who doesn't by now. This thread is about moving on to the next stage. Posts about whether or not we should protest are not necessary or welcome on this thread. If anyone wants to talk about that they can make a new one, or ideally save the time and just read one of the many that have already been made.
You never stop moaning about the mods, why not **** off to another board with mods you're happy with, you moaning ****.
John. Walkington: there will be no more excuses from me. I would be pleasantly surprised if any of our protests get a majority on them. The aim is to allow those who oppose the name to contribute what they can. For some that will be marching, for others signing a petition, for others something completely different. The aim over the coming months is to persuade enough City supporters to participate in at least one of our activities in order to save our name. DOGSBODY: I think that Hull City will cease to be if we become Hull Tigers. On 15 February 1971 the florin, tanner, ten bob note, bob, shilling were all renamed. For years afterwards people referred to the new money using their old names. Today the vast majority use the new names. Nobody apart from a few cranks refer to Manchester United as Newton Heath. Over time the name Hull City will disappear. A genuine question, how many people who don't intend to lift a finger to help campaign to save our name will fight after the change to keep referring to us as Hull City?
Might need to be someone rather brave and foolhardy. Picture the scene. On the day before the match the Allams announce a major Chinese investor is being introduced to the crowd on match day. This investor is to plough 50mill each season, for the next 5 years, under the provisor that he can market 'Hull Tigers' in the Far East. I would suggest that the person handing out those stickers may require Police protection from needing to have the stickers surgically removed from his person.
If that was the deal then the Chinese person involved would clearly be another ****er who knows nothing about football and we'd be better off without him.
I don't give a **** if we're marketed as '****s and *****s FC' in China. The issue is whether we change our ****ing name to Hull City Tigers or Hull Tigers. I'd also like to retract my earlier comments about not being bothered if Allam called us Hull Tigers in the UK, so long as we never legally gave up the name Hull City AFC. I saw the other day that Bournemouth are apparently still registered as Bournemouth and Boscombe Athletic Football Club. How many people knew that? They're just AFC Bournemouth to most people.
So why hasn't Assem Allam come out and said we have a major Chinese investor interested but he would like to change the name of the club to Hull Tigers to push us in the far east? Instead he said our name was irrelevant, common and a lousy identity didn't he?
