http://tyneandwear.sky.com/newcastl...teds-hatem-ben-arfa-dreaming-of-balon-dor-win Newcastle United playmaker Hatem Ben Arfa has revealed that he still dreams of being the best player in the world. In an interview with France Football, Ben Arfa has told of his desire to take his place in footballing history and be recognised as the best player in the world. Ben Arfa has played all of Newcastle Unitedâs four Premier League games this season and scored in the 1-0 win over Fulham and the 2-1 win at Aston Villa. Ben Arfa told France Football: âAt 26 years old, I still have plenty of time in front of me. I am not about to describe my career prior to retirement. âI know some will again think that I am mad but I still dream for example of the Ballon dâOr. I am convinced that this is still possible. âIt is forbidden to dream? I disappointed a lot of people over the past years, I have even annoyed many too, no doubt. But those people were right. I was not very professional. âI think I gradually changed as I have grown up. I have understood some basic stuff with regards to the strength that a community brings. âI still believe that one day I will be the best player in the world. But my biggest victory will not be that one. It will be of becoming a well-rounded man after overcoming so many obstacles.â Does he actually believe he even comes close to the likes of the Ronaldo's/Messi's of this world?
Good player, billion miles from being the best. He'll fit in well with their Champions league aspirations. Now I find this funny, but the mags will think we're obsessed. I'm just glutton for an easy laugh.
ahahahahahahahaha Wow He can't realistically think that's possible A very good player but nowhere near the balon d'or standard
He is a decent player to be fair and has that ability to win a game from nothing. He is the main reason the mags are comfortable right now as without him they are very ordinary. Hopefully he sees his future away from them soon.
He's very good, but he'll have to move to get anywhere near that level. Let's face it, SKP was European Golden Boot winner and hardly got a sniff of the England team. He'd have to outscore Messi to even figure on the reckoning as NE clubs don't figure that high on the radar...
I love Benny. He has his dreams but don't we all eh? The biggest improvement you will see this year is (hopefully) his injury record and physique. Our new fitness coach (worked with Team GB and national rugby) has been bulking him up which hopefully will help him when he get's bullied. He was a spoilt brat when we signed him and it's great to see him growing up and speaking so well. I can see him going to a top European club like PSG in the summer and he will go with my blessing as he's been no bother at our place at all and I will have seen some special moments. Even if I were a neutral it's players like HBA who will get me off my seat. The goal he scored against Bolton a bit back was sublime, taking out half their team before blasting it home. My daughter, who is 8 jumped off her seat and said to me 'Did that really happen?' - it's moments like what that keeps fans going back to grounds week after week despite getting kicked in the nuts by the powers that be and people like Ashley.
His comments tell me he'll be looking to get out either January or next summer. If he is believing his own hype he'll know he'll never achieve such status while with you lot. No offence to Newcastle, you're not a champions league regular. Headache you can probably do without as he's one of those players, like Colo, who'll you'll struggle to replace with anywhere near the same quality.
Think yourself lucky you find these gems in the first place. I hope some of our new players develop into special players.
Emile heskey has said he still holds aspirations of becomming the bel d'ore (or what ever its is) when quizzed it became apprent that he said "one day i hope to hit a barn door" I'll be here all week tsh tsh tsh ting!
I know we all like to wind up the Mags etc but there is nothing at all wrong with this interview by Ben Afri. Fair play to the lad, talks about getting over his injuries and dreaming of being one of the top players in the world and on current form he is showing very good promise. Obviously people are twisting the article to make him out to be saying he is better than Messi/Ronaldo but he isnt.
