I was actually happy with Sakho but I did notice a few dodgy moments which were completely understandable. Considering a lot of factors including adapting to new country, new langauge, new style, new teammates, I would say he did pretty well. Was extremely impressed with his ability on the ball. Looked very confidence, a few nice back flicks (or whatever you call them).

And I agree with Mito on our central midfield pairing. This has been our problem since Alonso and Mascherano left. It lacks energy, looked lethargic and cannot dictate a tempo of the game (unless we're at home against some weaker team). More worryingly is the fact that they are unable to grab a hold of the game when the going gets tough.

I think us having a weaker 2nd half performance stems from the lack of energy in the middle which means the rest of the team have to work harder.

Surprisingly, Coutinho has yet to create a chance this season.

However, I thought he played well - wasn';t involved a massive deal but most of our attacks would involve him. Looked classy on the ball and combined well with others through the use of slick one touch passing.

Can't the remember the exact stat but we had a fair few touches in the final third but only 4 once Coutinho went off... 4 touches in the final 3rd!

Another interesting stat - LFC only made 3 interceptions last night. The lowest number ina game since the start of 08/09.

Maybe that was the kick up the arse they needed. They seem to have got their **** together since. With Bony up top and holding on to Mich, I think they'll improve again. <ok>

I like Swansea, I consider them my 2nd team in the PL at the moment.

Based solely on the Havant & Waterlooville game performance, Skrtel would have been worse...

Swansea try to play their little hearts out against us every time we play them because of the Rodgers thing but I thought they were there for the taking last night if we played well but I don't think we did play well so happy enough with a point. I think Swansea will struggle this season and I will be happy to watch them struggle because of that Ashley Williams who is pure filth.

BR - Agger had a freak accident in the gym. He overstretched trying to prevent a dumbbell falling on his foot.

Ashley Williams was lucky not to get sent off for a variety of offences, but the ref was always going to bottle sending off the home captain.

Patronising and condescending, isn't it? <whistle>

But apart from a few notable exceptions, the "forget about the cloud let's look at the silver lining" on this board is so interesting. Like I posted earlier, 3 matches into the season is far too early to make projections and certainly too early to decide whether you'll be contenders for this or that...Liverpool teams have been plagued with severe inconsistency. Strip all the froth and all the reasons ( Swansea did play well in the second half etc) , should a team aspiring be part of the top 4 not beat Swansea?

We should be capable of beating Swansea, we we showed we are, but the actual result can be determined by any number of freak events. Bigger question; should a team aspiring for Premier League survival not be able to score from open play against Crystal Palace?

Freak events? They showed over the full 90 mins that they were more than a match for you, hence they had much more possession, made over 40% more passes than you, more corners, & 50% more shots........the actual facts aside.............yeah they were spawny as **** <doh>

Like I said I don't think we played well apart from a bit of the first half so happy with a point, you are right we should be beating the likes of Swansea but I am never unhappy with a point when we play that poorly. If it wasn't for agent Shelvey gifting us two goals we would have lost I think.

Fair post - the stats on this occasion accurately reflected the game and over 90 minutes Swansea were the better team and deserved to win. 'Pool were gifted their goals and, after being the better side first half, looked like a pub team in the second period. No, they didn't have an off day, they were simply totally outplayed by a team still learning at this level and which cost a fraction of their opponents both in transfer fees and wages.

By the way, I'm not knocking Liverpool. I've always had a soft spot for the team dating back to the days of Shanks, Tosh and Rushy and I was cheering as loudly as anyone after that incredible come back in the Champion's League final. I've just stated my honest view about last night's game, which was a great watch, and apologies to any decent fans who might have taken things the wrong way. But some of you Liverpool fans, the ones who are arrogant or condescending or both, need to know that you got stuffed 2-2 last night. Just man up enough to admit it.

  17. Shelvey's first wasn't exactly pure skill, he took three attempts at shooting before getting in on target (great finish mind) which included a air shot, plus a couple of lucky bounces. As a Liverpool fan, I could argue that your second was a gift too since our defence decided to have a rest at the wrong time.

In addition, yes Shelvey's back pass for our first was a gift but that is more credit to Studge than criticism to Jonjo. IMO, Jonjo did the right thing in trying to keep possession, what he failed to do was make sure it was safe to do so. Gerrard did this twice a few years back and on both occasions he gave the ball to Henry (one for Arsenal, the other for France) so its not like the best players haven't done it. Studge still had to finish just like Shelvey, Michu and Moses did.

To say the second was a gift is a bit of a joke IMO. Yes, Jonjo gave the ball away but Moses was fifty yards from your goal and you had defenders back to cover, Liverpool's movement (particularly Studge) was good and created the chance. It was also poor keeping from Vorm IMO.

All in all, I think the draw was fair. Both teams could have won it, both teams made mistakes and both teams dominated parts of the game. As the home side you would expect Swansea to have the better of possession IMO.

Or is it just a case that you think you are better than you actually are? You are trying to playing passing tik tak football yet only managed to get 41% possession, most of which was nowhere near our area. The stats prove that Liverpool were well off the pace last night and if it wasn't for two gifts you would have been well beaten.

  19. Being given the ball fifty yards away from goal with at least four defenders and a keeper to beat isn't a gifted goal! It is as much a gift as the Michu one when our defence went walkabouts <doh>
