Another game yesterday but 10 times the effort from the boys in comparison to last week which was great to see. We were the wrong end of a 5-1 score line but hey, it's early days and there's nothing in it. Our only goal was a penalty that I decided wouldn't be taken by my usual penalty taker; instead it went to my defender who has never scored in 3 whole seasons. The grin on his face after scoring to the bottom left of the goal was something that will give him motivation for weeks to come! It's a hard job but moments like that make it all worth it.

Always a risk, WDWW. I put the one and only penalty I ever took against the bar... which wouldn't be so bad, except 2 weeks before Southgate missed against Germany and I felt like I'd let the whole country down!

That said when I scored a 20 yard volley a year later, it was the best feeling ever. Goals like that are precious to us centre backs!

Woy good to hear the boys were up for it this weekend, shame about the scoreline but as you say improvements are measured by your teams success. I can imagine that lad who scored was reliving the moment all day long. Priceless indeed. We had a good game also. Played against mile oak who nearly won their division last year. We lost 3 - 1 but played brilliantly by our standards. They would have turned us over by 10 last year so massive progress. Good luck next week Woy, hopefully we can report some points earned
