Agree with the OP. We need to target the PL (and the FA if they count) so that they are fully aware how many are against the name change. Geting people to sign a petition as they come through West Park gates would be an alternative to the post cards if they prove expensive. Perhaps we should also keep a record of the results from the HDM poll and the Change.org poll so that there is as much data as possible to back up our objections. The worse thing that could happen is that the application to the PL for the name change is unopposed. The marches are not working and abusive chanting will just make Papa Allam dig his heels in even more.
History and heritage are just that, they are not determined purely by success on the field, the history and heritage is determined by those who lived through many of those years and the experiences they had along the way. I've supported City for almost a third of the time it has existed and to me, it's history and heritage are massively important and nobody is taking away City without a fight.
If you need any help with social media, youtube, or anything online i can do a fair bit for you. Even if you want a website etc..... Quite happy to help, do a lot of that stuff for work and other things outside of work so can probably help you with that. I like the postcard idea, i just think we need something obvious that people will latch on to, something that the TV Cameras of Football Focus can't ignore and fans of other clubs at away games can't. I think a banner at away games or something is needed to grab the attention of other fans, so that they try finding out when they get home what its about, and then we can get them involved with it get them to send some postcards etc....
I still think a protest during/after the game would be a lot more beneficial, and get a better turn out. Though we need something easy and cheap in order to radicalise the moderates.
After the next home game everyone walk around into the West Stand via the seating area and occupy the whole lower West and sing City Till I Die.They'll hear it in the Boardroom. Simples.
Almost everyone of us must know other fans who'd be prepared to join in the postcard petition.. So there must be a way of involving them.
I played a gig at Perth Street Club before the Norwich game and the first march, some footage from the day was combined to make this video. I can get it sent for any YouTube or social media sites etc if you need it.
Congratulations and well done to everybody that's participating in coming up with these ideas. This is starting to sound like a campaign that will encourage wide-spread support and can be maintained over a long period.
True, then when the vast majority again ignore their protest they won't have this excuse to fall back on. It'll just all be down to 'people's match day routine'.
That's not what I actually meant. Last week it was a couple of days before the game & people trying to organise something. This time they have more time to do it properly & put more thought into it. I still think the best way to go is with something produced, like a tshirt in black, something that stand out & that even those that don't want to jump up & down screaming at AA can be involved with. Sort of a silent protest.
YOU, ME and many, many more are sick of hearing all the guff people are spouting and threatening ! Nobody thinks for one minute that HULL CITY will cease to be called that by the fans who have supported their TEAM through the really bad years and bad previous administrations !
No but we will resist any attempts to bastardise our name on the back of some spurious 'big in Asia' notion. They will have to learn our proper name. And our USP advantage of having the best nickname in the country.
