To be fair, this season I think Ben Arfa is far better than Sess and has far more to offer. That said, Sess desperately needs games under his belt having had no pre season at all. He looks sluggish and unfit to me and if I dare say it, a little uninterested? Hopefully Ben Arfa will blow himself out by the time we play each other and Sess will be back in form. Lol
When they're both at their best, there's not too much between them, but I think Ben Arfa edges it. I definitely think we can agree that Ben Arfa is probably the better prospect since he's younger and has more years ahead of him. Sess is close to 30.
Can't argue. Ben Arfa's brilliance is that he's more direct than Sess, and that he hits speed quicker. Sess is probably a bit stronger and marginally more skilful, but that sometimes is his downfall.
Then upshot of this of course is that I think Sess will see his days out here now, having signed an extension and allow us to build and develop the team but Ben Arfa is more than likely to be sold on in the summer if this form continues and will be a huge hole to fill. Thats the problem with having young, exciting players that catch the eye? They get noticed by bigger fish.
Both great players on their day, both yet to prove it over the course of a whole season, if either player (or both) can do that then I have no doubt that Europe would be a real possibility for either/both teams.
Strength isn't really a think either of them have. They both have good balance on the ball, but Sess has great balance. He's 5ft 6 and Ben Arfa is 5ft 11, so it's likely Sess will be more difficult to knock down. Ben Arfa is the better dribbler for me.
Sess is incredibly strong for his size, you see some big, big lads lean on him and him stay upright, it's almost baffling at times.
Dribbling - Ben Arfa Assists - Sess (based on facts) Skill - Ben Arfa Top Speed - Could not tell (probably the same) Acceleration - Ben Arfa Strength - Sess This is all moot though. Both are amazing players. For what it is worth, people I know think Ben Arfa is miles ahead of Sess BUT then again, they also think Scotty Parker should be an England regular and a captain
Strength is a word thrown around too often. People keep on banging on about Aguero's strength. It's not really strength, it's balance on the ball that keeps these players on their feet. Sess is strong for his size, but I don't think he's stronger than Ben Arfa is. He'll stay on his feet though, because of his low center of gravity, just like Anita. Dribbling - Ben Arfa. Assists - I think Sess has been a big player for Sunderland. I think they're both about the same for passing ability, but until Ben Arfa goes a season and gets assists continuesly, I'll give it to Sess. Skill - Ben Arfa. Top Speed - Sess. Sess is the quickest over a long distance. Acceleration - Probably the same.
When Sess hits form and starts supplying Fletcher is something I'm looking forward to. Ben Arfa is definitely the class act at the moment though.
