http://www1.skysports.com/football/...onsistent-weekend-for-premier-league-referees I have sympathy for Paolo Di Canio Di Canio pleased with performance The Jozy Altidore 'disallowed goal' decision is one of those where the referee needs to hold his hands up and say he's made a mistake. The referees were given license to wait to see the outcome before they blow the whistle, but he reacted immediately and unfortunately it was only a spilt second before Altidore had struck the ball in to the back of the net, none of the Arsenal players had stopped playing. But as he'd already pulled blown up, he then couldn't allow the goal. I understood where Paolo Di Canio's anger was coming from because of the difference in the halves. Arsenal could have been out of sight by half-time, but Di Canio got Sunderland together at the break and then the decision went against them. The referee blew the whistle earlier than he needed to. Who knows whether that cost them the game? Arsenal could have still gone on to win. Chris Kamara reporting this, just shows we arent the only ones
Thing is mate if he did pull the game back for the foul then fine we can all except that as long as he sent Sagna (I think) off for being last man he didn't and we got a meaningless free kick. What happened to letting the game flow and if we didn't score then pull the game back for the foul we see it every week in the PL? again though it's all about being consistent and unfortunately the refs today are not consistent and, are not held to account for blatant **** ups. Until this happens we will always see these sort of things every week and not just against us.
From what I've read and heard i think most media/pundit have our back on this. No surprise as it's clear to see. Just the Gooners and their beak faced manager who need convincing.
To be fair to Wenger he did say on MOTD that they got the rub of the green for that one mate, what surprised me most though was that he actually saw it.
Possibly mate but, at least he saw it whichever he thought it was instead of the usual sorry looking the wrong way routine.
When asked the question he said he would have been dissapointed if it was the other way round and he agreed they got lucky. Also said once the ref blows his whistle then a free kick is the only decision to give.
Agree with that totally mate but, his player was the last man and denied a goal scoring opportunity as demonstrated by Altidore scoring so his player should have walked.
Whatever way you look at it Atkinson made an absolutely shocking decision which cost us any chance of getting a positive result
So where does this leave Atkinson in reffing future games for us this season, add on his spat with PDC at the end and sending him off for next to nowt, which only capped his under performing day then there is no way mentally he can have another one of our games this season, and why is it the media are paying attention to the diving antics of Manures Young, which he has done all his career and Atkinson gets very little criticism, as has been said already the Top Four get all the decisions and the other sixteen have to feed off scraps.
We need to get over it now, happens week in week out. Onto West Brom where we usually get turned over quite embarrassingly
