Let's list all the things RM could have better spent £86 million on...

My suggestion, creating a disease that makes people's feet fall off, immunizing their squad, then unleashing it upon the world...

Nobody tell Dan Brown, that'll be his next f***ing novel. Nobody buy Inferno. Just don't.

I didn't think laughing your arse off was a realistic expression, until Kevin Kilbane carelessly said "86 million is expensive for a left-back" on Football Focus...

But I do wonder where he'll end up playing. He could probably play up top if RM wanted, but he's so good you don't want him stuck on the wing or roaming around uselessly as a striker like Cisse. Finishing isn't his greatest strength, it's general play and pace, so he could really end up the most expensive utility player in the history of the game.

Really, the thing with these stand-out players is that the coaches build around them at various clubs and allow them to shine. Then when they aren't the star anymore, they're put in the shadow and restricted.

It really is a frightening array of talent. Whether it will be enough to topple Barcas own superstars is another question.

It was enough to sell lots of shirts, keep raising their profile and make a statement of intent to other football clubs.

I'm not sure if actually improving the football team comes into the thought process of why RM do half the things they do otherwise they would have just kept Ozil. It's all very good saying Bale is an awesome free-kick taker but the guys they had already weren't exactly shoddy on that count.
