I,ve been messing with guitars on and off for more years then I remember, no where near as good as I should be considering the time, but still like to noodle about. At 52 I think its safe to say my time has gone. Never gigged always been a bedroom player, but always fancied one day playing with a band on a fun basis just to tick off my things to do list,. Also got a small home recording room that I like to mess around in although not done anything serious. You sound as though your doing OK with your new pastime. Good luck with it all.
My collection consists of Musicman Stingray bass, Fender Jazz and a Fender Precision bass, Washburn Mercury bass and a Hofner Violin (Beatle bass). Add to that a Double bass, a Martin acoustic and 2 Stagg concert ukeleles, Roland upright piano at home and a Yamaha CP33 stage piano for gigs! I use an SWR bass rig and a Trace Elliot bass rig as a back up. Strange thing is, when I was 15 and starting out if someone had given me just one of those guitars I would have died and gone to heaven...
They are indeed, but I found mine impossible to tune and hard to get my fingers in the right places. I have the following: Electric Fender(tele) Semi acoustic Rickenbacker Haagstrom Vintage(wide body) Electric Acoustic Yamaha Tanglewood Kramer Taylor Along with a few other electrics not worth detailing. I play through a Marshall combo amp, run through a 500w Yamaha PA.
I have MusicLabs RealStrat, RealLPC and RealGuitar and Rob Papen RG All running through Native Instruments Guitar Rig and IK Multimedias Amplitude. Not forgetting of course the Bass Guitars in Spectrasonics Trilian. What????
I,ll throw what I have into the mix. Fender Tele Gibson LP studio Gretch 5120 Takamine EF591ME electo accoustic Fender Jaguar Bass. Usually run through various small 5watt valve/Solid state amps mic,d up for recording,or direct into my DAW via Line 6 Pod X3pro processor.
Do you like the Gretsch? It was my dream guitar, then when I finally went to get one, I didn't like playing it. I think I might have asked you this on the last guitar thread.
I cant remember you asking OLM, but no I dont like the one I,ve got, I bought it with the intentions of tricking it out with TV Jones PuP,s and other bits and bobs to make it more of a 6120, but after playing a 6120, the 5120 while not a bad guitar and I do play it now and again just dosent compare with the real Mcoy in my opinion. There loads of bumph on various sites how to get the 5120 closer to a 6120, but I,ve not yet thrown any money on the mods and cant see me doing so in the future. My Tele is my main guitar I use although the frets are starting to show signs of wear now.
I've been playing for 34 years, love noodling around on guitars and played on bands up till leaving university .. Some time ago! A group of us swap clips and guitar stuff on YouTube, search for scampirut and you'll see some of mine - it's more about the gear and less about the talent though I have to say! I play (not all at once though) Fender USA Strat Deluxe Fender USA Tele Std PRS Custom 24 Gibson Les Paul Std Gibson ES335 Gibson Firebird 5 Gretsch White Falcon DC 80's Ibanez RG140 Rickenbacker 360 Fender USA Jazz Bass Marshal DSL401 Valve Combo Vox AC30 Ampeg 150w Bass Amp Gigrig Pro Switching System and assorted effects pedals wired into it. I'm a bit gear crazy so am enjoying hearing about all your stuff as well!
I have a Tele (johny Brook) this is crap. An SG copy (Vintage) Actually very good. And my beloved 15 year old Washburn acoustic, which is my treasure. Don't be too jealous mates Also a very poor practice amp.
