Remy isn't ours to sell and as I recall there is no first option to buy him either as part of the loan deal. I hear the terms of the loan are expensive enough also so not really sure about the nominal fee bit
my thoughts are the fact we dont have the option to buy in next year is shocking and proves our lack of ambition !!! So, nobody has any complaint except the absence of an option to purchase ? And no one actually knows whether we have an option to purchase ?
Whereas I have never really thought things are shocking, Stevie Wonder can see we continually gamble and leave ourselves short of options. I think it is essentially the glaring lack of ambition which fuels the frenzy.
Maybe the gamble is QPR wanted £10m for the transfer or £1m + wages for the loan and said no future sale because we will need him when we're promoted. The gamble from us being they won't be promoted and with their parachute payment reducing next summer they cant afford to take him back so we offer them £5m and the player refuses to go anywhere else.
Typical Ashley. Possibly a good one in that if we have a half decent season, he enjoys himself, he might well fancy nothing else. The spanner in the works is he does really well, a bigger club takes an interest and we are rendered toothless in our pursuit.
I love the way the initial insane optimism of the thread was swiftly derailed into being a 'lack of ambition, we are inevitably doomed' feeling. Surely people still don't call us deluded do they? I see so little of that ammunition to work with nowadays.
I don't think there's a sense of inevitable doom. just a bewilerment at the glaring issues in the deal. It seems stacked against us. And for a club that made a statement saying we won't do loans because they're stacked against us, it's yet another U-turn. The fans don't expect us to be on a par with Chelsea or Man U or Man City. But with the supposed finances we have it's not unreasonable to want us to compete with the rest of the league. But every statement from the club is the polar opposite of the last. Why if we made profit last year with a lower TV income, can we not compete with Everton, who are notoriously skint?
