I did say Flyer went OTT to be fair.

I don't mind the rich at all. More luck to 'em. But sympathy for footballers on 100k a week? Na.

I hear AJ has got some knee injury, BZ has some permanent seeming injury and Austin, well he ain''t scored yet, so if TF is willing to pay Adebayor to give us some finish, I won't be complaining! And if what you say is right Silvio he sounds like an all right bloke for a very well paid football player.

I have read this thread with interest.

My first impressions of Adebayor is that he isnt the 'right sort' for us. We have somehow managed to rescue what was an awful team spirit last season, and transformed it into a great one by the looks of things. That isnt easy to do. But it is easy to ruin it by just one player.

I do think Adebayor is a good player, for sure. And even more so at championship level. But despite what I read from sb about him giving wages to charity etc (that is a great gesture by the way, not many would do that), I am still worried about how he comes across on the pitch.

I would be very nervous about Adebayor coming in and ruining the team spirit.

But if what sb said is true, then perhaps I have got him wrong.

I guess I will just trust Harry, as after all he knows him!

I totally agree with Grifter would be an excellent loan on the right terms - we are after all a Championship club, when on song he scores for fun and will help Charlie progress to the next level . Another point without HR at the realm we would not be joint top/ Barton would be gone/ Okotto-Carrol - Kranjar would not have come here !! Other Championship sides would not be crapping themselves looking at our squad - GET REAL !! ( excuse the spelling on my third bottle lol )

It confuses me a little, we had Remy on a reported 80k a week and had to loan him out to reduce our wage bill yet we are now looking at Adebayor for 85k a week.

Don't get me wrong both would be immense at Championship level but I would much prefer to be playing our players if we are thinking about promotion and next year...

its not about how good he is, hes the type who will coast along at 60% like Bosingwa did and on one of the worse contracts in world football.

He always gives me the impression that he's not really trying, but I suspect even at 75% he would be devastating in the Championship.

Not gonna work. That kind of attitude, coupled with his ridiculous wages would have a toxicity in the dressing room akin to what we have suffered over the last couple of seasons.

Its time for good, honest, hard-working pros to be our vanguard. We've gotten rid of most of the wasters. Lets never go back there again.

I don't think one player would sink the ship. There are enough ex spurs players here to keep him in check, along with Harry + the managerial staff. I'd like the think the team spirit is strong enough that Adebayor won't detrimentally effect it (if that's not the case, we'll probably end up being screwed eventually anyway).

I bet many of those opposing him would have been happy to see Odemwingie sign- who Is far "worse a sort" (in my opinion).

Good God no! The desperation he showed last season trying to leave a successful team to join a rock bottom side for a few extra spondoolies, says all you need to know about that bloke.

The very type of player we should never go near again.

If we could do a 3 month loan, so he'd be playing for his next move (allbeit at a lower level) then I'd bite your hand off for it.

Season long, I think we'd be better off going for someone like Sharp or the guy from City, as there's less likelihood of disharmony.

Anyone know if we're forced to make season-long loans now the window's shut?

I think it might be the opposite- you're only allowed to make season long loans prior to the window shutting. Thereafter, you can only make repeated short term loans if you want to keep the player for the season. So that could essentially mean Adebayor's input would be assessed every 3 months; with the option of shifting him.
