Take no notice of him! In fact, when his face appears on TV, turn to a different channel (quickly) - This will save you from bewilderment!

    beep beep beep PARDEW reversing.
He's done a complete U turn... yet again.
He also said we spent £30m on players in January.... lol.... did we?
Mike really must have some incriminating stuff on Pards for him to humiliate himself time after time like this.
Any credibility he DID have.... just boarded the bullshit bus.
I'll now assume everything that comes from the mouths of NUFC employees is complete and utter bullshit.

Gave up on Pards a long time ago.

    Don't tell Norma Snockers though.

Depends what you consider marquee. You can consider PEA and Gomis as marquee signings I suppose, and yes we did want them. Ince would have been marquee and we did want him. You can consider Bent as a non-marquee signing and no we didn't want him. The statement makes sense so far.

On the other hand, I think that people's expectations were much broader: Shane Long, for example, I wouldn't consider marquee but people's mood would have been much higher if he had arrived on deadline day. So, in the end, no: the fans wanted a decent quality signing who would improve the team, glitz welcome but by no means necessary

To risk sounding like a broken record, why someone can't just say to him; "to be honest, Alan, the fans just can't work out why you felt the club didn't need Lukaku, Arnautovic or Kozak when you harped on all summer about wanting a striker. Particularly regarding the former, exactly how 'in the red' would a second loan signing have been? Additionally, you're saying the club couldn't really afford someone....yet Mike Ashley managed to take 12m back. Doesn't smell like ambition to the fans."

To which his real answer would be: "I can't understand it either. And who ever said the club had ambition ?"

Though frankly I am not sure we could have got Lukaku, but we could have joined the queue

Complete mouth piece and all round bottom feeder. He has no say in what goes on anyway. Everytime he opens his trap he just embarresses himself. Apparently he is really happy with our strikers. We have Cisse, Remy, a loanee who isn't really fit, Campbell who needs some loan time/first team football and ****ing Shola who is just a useless **** who should have been sent packing long ago.

Pardew is nothing more than a spineless wretch.

Absolutely pathetic comment to make. We were one of the few clubs in the black last season so fast forward to this season and we have Harper, Simpson & Perch off the wage bill with Remy joing (probably breaking even regarding wages as Remy probably amounts to the total of the other three). You then add all the extra tv money whilst also taking in to account that there are no additional costs this season due to no signings, stadium/training ground development etc so how the hell could we possibly go in to the red if we spent 15m on a player???

I mean the tv money alone has increased by 30m so we should have a big fat 30m sat in the bank. You could argue Ashley took out 12m for his loan but that would still leave 18m so these comments from Pardew are pathetic, they're also comments he didn't need to make. I'm at a loss to explain that when he gave this answer in his presser why the journalists didn't question him on it?

Pardew really has no say or idea when it comes to our finances so he'd be better off just not commenting on them.

I was actually looking forward to the game tomorrow, three clean sheets on the spin, MYM & Anita expected to keep their places and Remy due to start and all of sudden things aren't looking too bad. But no, on the eve of the game you get another big fat reminder that we're constantly being lied to by Ashley, Pardew, Kinnear etc. I'm sorry but there is not a chance that we'd be going in to the red by bidding 10m plus for a player and the fact he said "we really didn't want to go in to the red but bids did go in that would have put us in to that situation" shows to me that they were bids purely put in to appease fans.

I mean look at Gomis' quotes "everything was agreed but then Newcaslte asked me to reduce my wages after we'd already agreed terms". It just shows that the plan all along was infact to not sign a single player.

Just out of interest... what do people WANT PArdew to say that they wouldn't be annoyed by?

You do realise he's not going to slag off his bosses, right? I don't know what people expect him to say.

It is patently obvious now the Pardew couldn't sign anyone unless he sold Cabaye first. Sick of all the lies being said by our DOF and Manager and how I wish they would just be honest with us fans. It does beg the questions though as to where all the money is going? ( Apart from fat Mikes pocket )

I have no problem with him having stated that we needed players during the transfer window or that he expected signings before the end of the window. That was an attempt to pressure the club into making signings. He probably knew he was putting himself out on a limb but it was one of the few things he could do to try to get people in the door.

Ideally, I would like him to now say that his opinion as to whether players were needed are a matter of record and that reporters will have to ask someone other than him why they didn't arrive. No need to criticise anyone but there is also no need to stick up for them either.

By all means say that the players we have are excellent and that, if we can keep all of our players fit and available for a whole season, then we can be optimistic, because our best team can beat anyone on their day. That is building morale.

He should also acknowledge that if injuries and suspensions bite we might find that the failure to bring in re-inforcements could come back to haunt us. We know it. He knows it. He knows we know it. Acknowledging it would help the fans feel that he lived in the same world they did.

Aye! Spot on that Freddd. He needs to pick a line and stick with it! Bouncing from 'We need 3 or 4 players' to 'I'm happy with my squad' etc does himself no favours. Also, and quite rightly, he should be saying, 'You need to ask Joe that' to all the questions he has say in. In other words - Grow a pair!!!

When Pardew said "we" wanted a marque signing, did he mean we the club/ board or was he referring to the fan base. If it were the latter then it just goes to show how out of touch our manager, no actually the whole upper echelon of the club are with the supporters.
I didn't want a marque signing, l don't want to return to the days of paying silly money to big name has beens, who only want one last pay day to pocket.
What l wanted was for our selected targets, if we genuinely had any, and l am sceptical about that, to be brought into the squad on realistic terms.
However, it seems that this obsession with getting something for nothing has spiralled out of control, to the point where we lose targets over small beer matters.
What l wanted to see was some tempered ambition, and some quality to strengthen what is undoubtably a squad with potential and quality. I for one also want Pardew to stop making these banal statements which only highlight how pathetic and out of touch the man has become. Surely he must know and pre-empt the questions that are likely to be thrown at him in his press conferences. Why can't he be better prepared and prepped for them ? He has put his sizeable feet in his mouth so many times, but never seems to learn from it. The man is unbelievable, literally unbelievable .
