According to Pete O'Rourke on twitter (He is a sky sports journalist) James Wilson is going out on loan to Cheltenham. Surely this isn't a good idea? We are short enough at the back as it is and even though I don't really rate Wilson I don't think we should send him out.
Cant see that he has ever really fitted in with SOD and given the age he now is, does need to be moved on for his own benefit-
James Wilson will complete his move this afternoon and is expected to make his debut against Oxford on Saturday
He's been at the club for ages, and he's not a starter. If we're looking to loan out now I reckon we should just let him go so he can forge a career elsewhere.
Cheerio, took a backwards step after a very promising start to his career.. Didn't Kuardiff Lumpur once offer £1m for him?!
Not in the slightest surprised he has never really impressed when ever he has played and he has failed to impress so many managers despite our well known defensive problems over the last 5 years or so. If he couldn't get into the side on a regular basis and has been behind loan players even Caulker who was younger than him at the time it tells you he hasn't got it in him to impress in training either.
'and he has failed to impress so many managers despite our well known defensive problems over the last 5 years or so' Yeh, our fantastic managers preferred Tangle and Fontaine. On that basis Wilson must be terrible. However they didn't want Joe Edwards who's now playing in the Championship. And like the present incumbent who preferred f****** Kilkenny to Bobby Reid earlier this season. And would Joe Bryan been given a chance but for the rules on spending ? Just wonder what might have happened if we'd shown faith in the past and persevered more with 'our kids'.
McInnes can take credit for finding Bryan. S'OD can take credit for making him. That loan spell to Plymouth was a great move for him.
'McInnes can take credit' Sorry Shiny, you can't have McInnes and credit in the same sentence Bryan's loan to Plymouth proves it's games these kids need. Like Edwards, Like Reid. Our managers have been reluctant to play/trust the kids preferring to bring in 'journeyman' like Hunt, Bates etc. There are others - And how useless were they ?
In the interests of balance... How many of that Wilson, Plummer, Artus batch are actually playing at a decent level? Ryan Harley perhaps the only one to have a decent league career upon leaving us. Granted, we should play the youth, but they do have to be good enough too. Stephen Henderson was a shame that he choose to leave though.
'In the interests of balance...' You may well be right but how do you know how they would have developed had they played games early. Anyway it's down to the skill of the management team to assess these players and I don't think BCFC have made the right call on to many occasions. All I am sure - 'In the interests of balance...' - that we've signed some right 'numpties' earning ridiculous salaries. As for Ryan Harley - GJ got rid because of Junior was stuck in Scotland - check when Junior arrived and Harley shown the door. Henderson CHOSE to leave because he was 3rd in line for the keeper's shirt. Which idiot was in charge then I can't remember, probably Millen, but whoever it was made a big mistake.
