LEE Cattermole is back in full training and taking extra training sessions in order to boost his fitness.

And head coach Paolo Di Canio has hinted that the former Sunderland skipper could well have a part to play for the club in the months ahead.

The Teessider did not train with the first team over the summer when it looked certain he would be sold.

And he was injured in the Under 21 Development squad’s first game of the season when he twisted a knee.

But Di Canio revealed: “Lee Cattermole is fine in terms of fitness.

“He’s having an extra training session because he needs to be fit.

“But he’s now back with us and he’s back in the squad.

“He trains well and he gives us his best.

“It might be a few days or weeks yet but he’s is getting there.”

Di Canio added: “Wes Brown is now back in full training but has only rejoined us this week.”

Just stick him in now as far as im concerned, an unfit Catts is better than a fit Vaughan

Not if he breaks down after 10 minutes, however, Cabral, Ki, Gardener on the other hand.

    His injury was?

He's been out for how long?

He's been training now for how long?

    Exactly so.

As someone said on another thread, the extra fitness could help with both injuries and cards.

What would it take? A month? Worth the wait imo.
