QPR player stunned by wall of silence

    By Paul Warburton
    Sep 12 2013

HOGAN Ephraim reckons he would like one more thing before he leaves QPR – and that is a heart-to-heart with someone from the management.

The midfielder is out in the cold and resigned to leaving after five years with a loan move to Wolves the likeliest option at first.

However, the 25-year-old, a veteran of 10 different managers in his time at Rangers, claims he as yet to chat with the current set-up.

He added: “It has been extremely disappointing not to be involved. I came back from Canada hoping to play and it just hasn't happened and there's been no explanation about why.

“To be honest the one thing that has really disappointed me has been the lack of clarification about why I'm not playing. There's been nothing.

“I'm an experienced player and in terms of ability I feel I can play in the Championship and my team-mates tell me that every day.

“In terms of attitude – being the right sort – I don't think anyone I've worked with would say I've not got a good attitude.”

For all that, Ephraim is a realist and knows his time is done, but insists he takes with him cherished memories from the Championship winning campaign of 2010-11.

“To be fair though, the team have started the season really well,” he said. “The lads who have played have been excellent and I'm not really in a position to go knocking on doors.

“I signed for QPR when the club was bottom of the Championship and I had the pleasure of winning the title and being promoted.

“That was a great time in my career and nothing will take away the memory of that.”

This seems to be Redknapp's way - if you're out of favour, he doesn't speak to you.

Just knock on the door and ASK. There's been a lot going on.

I'm still waiting for my boss to come over and chat to me about getting a pay rise. I haven't had one in three years. I suppose he thinks that I'm perfectly happy as I haven't said anything.

Having skill and the right attitude, aint enough.

If you are out of the team, you train harder, and harder, not winge to some paper about being hard done by.

He might be good enough for the Championship, but QPR is aiming to have a Premiership team.

And I wouldn't believe no one spoke to him, we wouldn't let any player just sit there and rot.

I agree he's had a tough time of it at LR and this latest episode just caps what must be an immensely frustrating 5 years for him. Having said that I don't recall him playing much of a part in the promotion season as he claims. He has been out of favour with every manager since LDC. They can't all be wrong.

I seem to remember Sousa saying some very complimentary things about him and wanting to use him in a central role.

I have some sympathy for him, but he needs to take control of his own career, which won't be with us. It is typical Harold behaviour though, you're either in the circle or completely ignored.

Im no fan of his but what Redknapp is doing is dumb. Its clear he has no future here so why is he still here and why are we still paying him money?

He deserves to be told face to face hes not got a future and hes free to look for another club as is benefits both while Redknapps behaviour benefits no one.

I'll say it again. Just knock on the door, ask for a meeting and see where he stands.

Nowhere here does it say "I've asked several times for a meeting" or anything like that. If he is not happy, then he should say something ... to the manager/coaches/club and not to the press.

I also have sympathy with the chap for having been around so long and not really broken through. Maybe he would/could have progressed in leaps and bounds with regular first team football, but I think we could all see that that was never going to happen.

I think Ephraim's lucky he's been retained for so long, on what will have inevitably been a very comfortable wage. If the situation had ever got unbearable for him at QPR- then surely he'd have pushed for a transfer? He hasn't been used for the past two seasons.
I don't think anything in that article is "symptomatic of harry's style"; Hughes and Warnock didn't use Hogan either.

Why hasn't he been proactive previously and made efforts to get first team football elsewhere? It can't be that important to him.
When Jamie Mackie decided he wasn't gona get enough gametime this season, he immediately engineered himself a transfer.

This is the sad part- "To be honest the one thing that has really disappointed me has been the lack of clarification about why I'm not playing. ".
This comes across as very naïve, surely he must know that there's no one in the squad he'd get a starting position ahead of?
I really wish him well after his time at QPR, because I get the impression he might feel he's better than he is, after being at a premiership team for a few years. There could be a big crash back to reality on the horizon

Just have a feeling Hogan isn't giving the whole story. Eamon's right, if he wants to find out where he is in the pecking order, just ask. Complaining to the press isn't going to help him

Not a bad player with a good attitude, good luck to him if he does go, and it sounds like he's ready.

We've done it loads in the last few years - Hughes did it all the time and Beard just let him.

That's got a lot do with why I think Beard is a ****wit.

This is spot on, maybe if he knocks it will show his desire to play and Harry may think about it or at least say sorry you aren't good enough v the others we have so moving on is the way to go. Didnt i read he was training with Wolves so must have been some sort of discussion to allow?
