Totally agree, will be a tough match.

So in the absence of Baldyheed I'll go for 3-1 to the Toon. :)

Well, we must be approaching this match tails up. This one's going to be quite pivotal I reckon in seeing how the season will unfold. Why? Because Pardew has some key decisions to make, around Tiote, Cabaye and Jonas. We will get an idea of the kind of tactic we will be seeing, and we will also get a good idea - now the window has shut - of how much the team believes in the manager.

It's a tricky tie, Villa have enthusiasm at least, sprinkles of talent too. They started like a train but were much flatter against Liverpool, though showed some promise in the second half. The break will benefit them, as they are so youthful defeats like that can have a negative impact. I'd really like us to show a lot more of a solid shape in this one to really stifle them. Keep the back four the same as it's been for the last two clean sheets for a start. That said, I'd personally be tempted to push Santon further forward and bring Dummett in, purely because none of our left wing options are good enough yet. Sammy's been probably the best, but isn't someone to use in this kind of match. I would be completely unsurprised to see Jonas stuck back in and, to be fair, can understand the reasoning. Ben Arfa wide right obviously, Anita and Sissoko in the middle, Remy/Cisse up top. Imagine the front six on like a wheel...

    Ben Arfa Anita Sissoko Jonas

    Cisse Remy

Then that wheel can rotate throughout the match

    Anita Sissoko Jonas

    Benny Cisse Remy

    That's how I see it.

Is anyone up for meeting up in Newcastle for this game, like some of us did for the Man City away game in March.

If we're going to be serious challengers for the title then this is the type of game we have to win and I'm sure the players appreciate that. Obviously Villa are a different propostion to last season, however the influence of Joe and the tactical nous of St Alan will subue Benteke & Co, I therefore predict a relatively comfortable 3-1 win with Ben Arfa, Cisse and Santon scoring.

Wondering if anyone knows the severity of the 'restricted view' seats, worth buying or not?

If anyone is selling a normal unrestricted view ticket for Saturday I'd love to take it off your hands, can pay cash today? If no al just go for the restricted view ticket.

    Thanks for replays in advance.

Totally in peace - there are a few "restricted view" seats at Villa - different levels of restriction.

When I was in one I was behind a stantion - so much so that I couldn't watch the game from there as it wasn't "restricted" it was "Watch this through a 2 foot wide 100 foot high post where you can't really sway either side to see the game" - it was awful and I got up and spent most of the match wandering around the away section (got a bollocking from a few stewards too) But my mate got one where the only real issue he had was that he couldn't see the ball when it was more than 25 yards in the air - OK so it was Steve Bruces time so he didn't see much of the ball but you get my meaning!!

    2-0 Villa

They seem to be getting better... The opposite is true of us.

Have faith, we might do well this year, Villa have looked improved since our last meeting with them back in January, so I say 2-1 to them.

Imagine if we can get a win here, would give us such a confidence boost. 2-1 us.

Thank God I'm off on my travels for the next few weeks!

Seriously though, I think this will be a pivotal game for us this season (even though it is early) - if we lose I can see a downward spiral based on the current situation, but a win would really increase confidence and I think push the squad on to a top half finish.

    Selected PP Match odds:
    Newcastle to win @ 5/2
    Newcastle to win 1-0 @ 9/1
    0-0 draw @ 17/2

Think I'll have some of the 9/1 for the 1-0.

We are going to win 1-0. Colo to score from a corner in the 93rd minute and Pardew to rip his top off.
