Every few months it is announced how close we are to maybe possibly think about applying for a thought to consider expanding the stadium.
I think we are getting there... We can't just throw the remaining residents out of the V streets - it has to be done properly... However we were set back by years by the previous shower of owners...
I think that's a bit short sighted. From what I've read we actually have a plan in place now to deal with the remaining obstacles preventing us from moving forward. Only a handful of properties need to be cleared before demolition takes place, and unlike previous designs, this one is taking the regeneration of the entire area of Anfield seriously with local residents involved at every step - as it should always have been.
Someone I know was musing about the stadium recently; what would people have said if Henry had announced on the first day of his ownership that, three years later, there'd still be no physical development on the stadium front? Even now, we're looking at at best the summer (I'd guess at least another year on top of that) and still all we hear is of how close we are or how much progress has been made.
We also have the Council declaring that they will use their CP powers should owners attempt to hold up the implementation of their Area Plan which includes the refurb of Anfield.
Trying to find the article on JH interview that also had a paragraph about building new bigger replacement stands "behind the existing stands" so that there would be very little impact on current revenue while work went on. Any architects in the house to explain how that could be done?
H&G were never prepared to pay a penny themselves, they wanted everything for nothing and their debts nearly killed us. FSG are obviously businessmen who, as a priority, are in it to make money, but at least they are not crippling the club in the process!
I think they should place a giant blower fan and vacuum behind each goal to use as we see fit and lose 800 seats
