Going off what ive seen of him so far im very impressed. He gets forward alot and has a great cross on him as we saw against Palace and MK Dons. Shame Ji bottled it though! SUNDERLAND will have to splash out around £2.5million if they want to sign full-back Ondrej Celustka on a permanent deal. Celustka has been one of the early success stories of Sunderlandâs summer spending spree after arriving on a season-long loan from Turkish outfit Trabzonspor. The Czech defender has made no secret of his desire to impress sufficiently at the Stadium of Light to earn a longer stay in the Premier League. Within days of his arrival, Celustka said: âI would like to do well here at Sunderland and make this a permanent move. That is my hope. âI want so much to stay here, but, of course, I know it depends upon me and how I perform.â And as is this the case with all overseas loans, a clause has been built into the deal to convert it into a permanent switch. But Sunderland would have to pay a fee of £2.5m to activate that agreement next summer, if they want to keep the 24-year-old. Certainly, the early signs from Celustka have been encouraging after solving Sunderlandâs exhaustive hunt for a right-back, which had dragged on throughout the summer. When Sunderlandâs move for principal target Gino Peruzzi fell through, the Black Cats were forced to consider alternative options, before signing Celustka just five days before the start of the season. But as the Echo reported last week, head coach Paolo Di Canio has been impressed by Celustkaâs contribution so far. Di Canio said: âTo be honest, every one of the new players has done a good job, but heâs one of the most positive, because we couldnât expect this level straight away. âItâs not easy playing in England. âHe only had four days training with us before the start of the season. âBut heâs a fantastic professional, with determination, desire and, as I said when he came, he had the hunger to play in England. âHe has been fully committed in the training sessions.â
Adapted very very quickly. I've been impressed considering he was like 3rd choice target. Possibly even 4th. We were linked with so many it's hard to keep track.
Aye, he looks good. Just hope he can sustain his level and improve but he has the right attitude to do so which is a big plus.
Going forward he was excellent, him and Johnson didnt work though, more down to Johnson I think though. Also defensively could be dangerous based on his attacking intent and with slow centre halves that could leave us exposed. Hopefully he will be great!
