He's just signed for West Ham on a free, he was previously in talks with Reading. He scored 5 in 23 for Fulham last season, but 14 of those appearances were from the bench, before that he scored 38 in 99 league games for Hamburg and his international record is 13 in 45. He's no spring chicken, but he's a big strong centre forward with a career record better than one in three, I think he'd have been a handy addition.
I'm amazed we haven't looked at anybody who is available on a free. Bruce is probably trying to keep some wages free now for January, when he'll probably attempt to get Long again.
Probably on deadline day, but there must be something with either wages or moving. The players that have been mentioned are getting on a bit, so probably either can't be arsed or don't want the hassle for a season or so.
How the **** have West Ham registered only 23 players to enable signing these freebies? I thought if you were in the building you had to be registered? Is Allardyce 'hiding' some under his desk?
