What do you believe as a Newcastle fan were then reasons for you underachieving so badly in last years Premier league? Considering how successful the season before was, where did it all go so wrong?

A few of my ideas are:

Second season syndrome: You did great the year before last. Last year however, second season syndrome kicked in. The thing is you guys were in the Championship only three seasons ago. Usually teams who are promoted play well as they are still feeding off the excitement, hype, joy, success etc etc of being promoted, and then when the second season comes and that feeling wears off and reality kicks in, your player realize 'oh wow actually we were only in the Championship a few seasons ago, maybe we aren't as good as we thought we were' and performance drops. I mean think about it only three seasons ago you guys were playing in the Championship.

Players Motivation: You guys signed a lot of new players and after they got used to playing for your club and the initial 'oh this is my first season playing for this club I better really show what I can do to ensure myself a place in the starting 11' wears off, it is replaced with a feeling of 'hmm I did well last season but I no longer know what I can achieve at this club apart from midtable year in year out' (no disrespect, but lets face it, you guys aren't going to be winning the Premiership anytime soon)

Bad Luck: Perhaps it really was just bad luck.

Its just something that's really interested me, because you guys did so great the year before last. It really was bizarre to see you drop so much. Newcastle are one of my favorite clubs in the League and it got me wondering why. Newcastle definitely belong in the Premiership, so it is important that the issues are addressed so they don't happen again.

    Second season syndrome? Nah.

The simple fact of the matter is we were a good side and we failed to strengthen in key areas meaning we couldn't cope with the extra European games. Plus our manager just got his tactics all wrong and managed the team poorly.

We had a great system the season before and he changed the formation and the style completely.

Depends on whether one thinks there's a problem, or that there are issues to be addressed or not.

Fans would say that there are issues and could rattle off a whole host of problems and shortcomings. Then the owner will turn around and say "the club is in the Premiership, there is all that lovely television money, I am doing well buying relative unknowns from abroad and then selling them on for a good profit. Ergo, there are no issues."
