The planned match on Saturday, October 19, before the home match with Liverpool, is primarily to voice the supportersâ feelings about Mike Ashley. But organisers also believe that any publicity will be beneficial in their aim of a change of ownership. Time for Change member Graeme Cansdale, who was at Thursdayâs meeting, said: âWe want to put the club in the shop window. This is not just about protesting Ashley. âWe want to get the message out there that this is a great club. It should be performing a lot better and should be run responsibly. âIf the people come together on this march, then someone might come forward. You never know.â The fans will keep any anti-Ashley protest away from St Jamesâ Park. While there has been talk of a boycott, the overwhelming feeling of the fans is that when at the game, the sole focus should be on supporting the team. Speaking to the Chronicle, one fan who was at the meeting, said: âThe 90 minutes is sacred. âThe general feeling was that on a Saturday, the most important thing is what happens on the pitch.â Kinnel here we go again : take your pick https://www.google.co.uk/search?hl=....0....0...1ac.1.26.img..7.15.1020.CY7sKJVqNYU
Ditto with the debt and a thousand horse botherers marching through the bigg market makes it a very attractive proposition - not!
FFSAKE!!! How thick are they. He has been trying to flog it for years. It's just that nobody wants it.
Its difficult to know what to do for the best as a fan. But I actually have some sympathy here. I don't think a march will attract buyers as they hope, but I guess they will have a few hours of venting their collective spleens. The frustration supporting the mags under Ashley must be awful..so as I say, I have some sympathy, tinged with with a chuckle inside of me tho'
I have no sympathy at all. They sent Ashley and his family death threats. He has obviously never forgotten them. Hence his investment in that club will be nil or next to nothing. Relegation would be fantastic for him as he could halve the wages before making his bid to take over Glasgow Rangers in a couple of years (guaranteed CL football). That's his '5 year plan' and it's brilliant.
Interesting idea NMG but doesn't really add up. Ashley is a business man and although he flirted with the concept of enjoying ownership he sharply found out he would be judged on his decisions and went into his shell. He doesn't give interviews or release anything from himself so when people put forward his motives and views its entirely guesswork. My guess? He will aim to make money from Newcastle by turning a profit year on year (which we have either achieved or narrowly missed out on for the past couple of years - putting us in a rare minority in the Premiership). Now the Sky money has gone up even further we are sure to turn a handsome profit and he will simply milk that and keep the club 'trim' and invest the bare minimum required to keep us in the Premiership whilst being on the lookout for any potential investors. But I don't think he is actively looking to sell the club, just planning on milking it for a while until Rangers get further up the leagues and he will sell us and invest there instead. Not great for Newcastle fans but it could be worse, he needs to keep us in the Premiership for his investment and at least when he sells we will be financially stable (the whole 'debt' thing is overblown and if we continue to be run on a tight scale like the last few years then another few years of Premiership survival will have us ok. Almost every club has debt, ours is at least just to our owner).
Good post mate, in your opinion what do you think the "fans" expect to achieve from a protest march? 4 points from 3 games isnt bad, i'd swap right now
Loads of the nuggets gave money to NUST ........... trust? Yeah, trust them to clear off with your money ......
Hahaha Absolute comedy gold. I wonder if the scum have a mock funeral again before a game like they did a couple of years ago Absolute muppets
Just when we feel a little down in the dumps at the moment about our own club, along come NUFC, the gift that keeps on giving, to cheer us all up!
How much do they want for nufc? I,ve got some savings in my isa and I might buy it but I would be put off if the fans did boycoutt the games.
Honestly the Mags. He buys them and saves them from a **** worse then death and turns the club from loss making to profit making in 5 years and what thanks does he get? Maybe they'd rather have a team full of overpaid wasters and Michael Owen on the bench again? I honestly hope he sells them to somebody who will spend, spend, spend and put them out of business sharpish because Newcastle needs another car park.
How the hell do they expect a protest march against current owners to entice a new owsner - wouldn't that make a new owner think "**** this I don't need that type of publicity if it goes wrong for me"
It's 2/5 of what you lot managed on your own board mate. Anybody would have thought the rats were abandoning a sinking ship. POST WHEN YOU'RE HAPPY! YOU ONLY POST WHEN YOU'RE HAPPY!
