Sunderland left-back Andrea Dossena has reportedly agreed to halve his salary at his new club until he is fit to return to the playing field. The former Liverpool defender saw a move to Torino break down earlier in the summer after he failed a medical due to a thigh injury he had sustained. The 31-year-old wouldn't have been available for four to five weeks, so the Granata decided against the deal. However, according to Sky Sport Italia, in order to convince the Black Cats to sign him on the final day of the transfer window, Dossena agreed to cut his wages in half until he is ready for selection once more. Italian international Dossena spent the second half of last season on loan at Palermo, where he managed 11 appearances for the Rosaneri as they were relegated to Serie B.
I get where you guys are coming from but in what other job could you say to your future boss in an interview "Honestly - I can start work in a month or so, while I am getting ready just pay me half my wages" I know the window skews things but so does earning as much every week as would many people in a year. Glad he came, glad he was prepared to be pragmatic but he isn't ready for sainthood just yet
I'm **** hot at my job and would show confidence in my ability, in fact i've just had 6 months on full pay earning degrees to move me forward, in that time i've only cost my company money, now its time for me to do my ****
Not gonna row about it I guess though that to get your 6 months off you have worked at your place for a decent while to prove you can do your stuff... Just hoping he's as good at his job as you are at yours!
Why didn't we sign Peruzzi for right back on low wages as reported if we were going to sign another injured left fullback on higher wages. Something odd there.
I started a new job in June as a trainer - but I knew very little about the systemsI was going to be training people on and have only just started delivering training towards the end of August - so it's a bit of a catch 22 situation - most jobs have a "bedding in period" and with most companies you get paid your full pay to do it! Although half of my pay is less than minimum wage and Half of Dossena's wage in a week is more than half of my annual wage!! How many of us could afford to live on half of our wage!!
I think there was a £4m price tag on Peruzzi and Dossena has come a mere fraction of the cost so maybe thats why? I hope this injury isnt too serious as even half wages for a player that cant play is just money down the spout imo
Back in the 80`s I worked for **** all I got was my expenses ie bus fare . Hoping the guy I was working for would take me on , he didn't . Did it for three month`s 12hr day getting up at 7 not getting in until after six with the travel .I just wanted to work Dossenna just wants to play ps it took me 3months to realise I was a mug .
Like it!!! I did a YTS with work experience working 50+ hours a week for £35 - worked out at less than 70p per hour FFS (and people complain that the £6. odd minimum wage isn't enough now!!) people don't know they're born these days On Dossena - I'm delighted the lad has come here and just wants to play football - I liike to hear committment like this - just hope he does it on the field when fit
Tbh mate most jobs you don't even start on a permanent contract and you get bottom wage the job offers regarding of weather your fit or not. Salary jobs are differant and employment contracts can say anything. Nothing strange about it if you ask me other than the lad showing willing. As for Peruzzi, it was my understanding his scan showed messy scaring from a potentially dodgy injury which should have been operated on but hadn't.
He signed for Catania for £3m which is a pittance for an argentina international/wonderkid. I'm all for being shrewd but if we're that worried by what should be a fairly insignificant figure for a premier league club we're going to miss out on quite a few targets.
The explanation the club gave us was we need sombody to come in and play now, not in 3 months time. By the time he recovered from his injury and got match fit, and not to mention adjust to the English game, the season would nearly be over. Im quite happy with Celustka what ive seen of him so far!
LOL I actually slept in and rang him up . I told him I had a offer of a job in London ( I hadn't ) I said I would take up the offer unless he was prepared to offer me a job , he said he would .He offered me £60 a week this was 1988 the piss taken twat I was making him a small fortune no doubt he got some other hopeful young lad to make him money .
