Jay Simpson has turned down a move to Turkish outfit Gaziantepspor after being offered a two-year deal.

The former Arsenal and Hull City forward had travelled to Turkey for talks over the weekend, but he has opted against signing the deal.

Simpson, who has interest from a number of clubs around Europe, has now returned to England to consider his options.

"The interest in Jay is high," his agent Leon Callander told Sky Sports.

"He does like the idea of playing abroad, and that is why we had the talks in Turkey, but things were not quite right.

"We will be assessing the options over the coming days and see what is best for him."

Good news that there is interest, deserves a club, spoke to him a few times and he is a thoroughly decent lad.

I'm surprised someone like Millwall or Charlton haven't looked at him.

Didn't he struggle to adapt at first to a new life in East Yorkshire ?

I get the impression he's not cut out for working abroad - just my opinion.

    Good luck to him anyway.

If contractual circumstances had been different I would have preferred him staying over McClean

beggars can`t be choosers sometimes, the lad needs to be playing and discover his shooting boots and confidence, sat on his arse aint gonna help his cause, instead of considering these multitude of offers he should be lacing his boots up again and pretty damn quick.

He was very impressive in the game at Charlton at the beginning of last season. I'm surprised they would not have shown an interest in him...he wants to be in London and is a better bet than Stewart IMO. Good luck to him...would like to see him scoring goals in the Championship as he did with Millwall.

    I think you're right.

I never met him, but it seems that everyone who did found him to be a thoroughly nice bloke and a big family man, so his rejection of this deal doesn't surprise me.

He didn't score enough, but he's a decent player and I hope he lands on his feet.
