Savage is at it again in the daily mirror, giving list of teams in order of where they will finish (SAFC 18th) after 3 matches !, they have the knives out for Di canio. I remember when Reading won 6 of their first 11 home games saying they will be safe but they went down, and we are better than Hull, WBA, Newcastle, Cardiff, Palace etc.

We'll get better, but seem to be regarded as a soft target by some. Not a good start, but we're only 3 games in FFS, so this sort of speculation in the media is more about filling column inches than worthwhile journalism. Personally, I'd have Robbie Savage to go down as soon as a good-sized cock hoves into view...

Why do people get upset when people predict us to go down! We might get relegated! If we don't pull our socks up, we will! If I was a neutral, I'd probably predict that Sunderland would struggle, its up to the players and managers to prove them wrong! On paper we might be better than at least 3 teams, on the pitch might be another matter!

I can understand 'neutrals' predicting that we'll go down.

We made Palace look like Brazil last week end.

We have to hope that with our net spend of almost a million we are better than last season where we just stayed up.

My prediction, for what it's worth is a 15th.-11th. finish.

Next season we should spend some of the millions on maybe 2 or 3 good players instead of lots of ordinary players.

I think PDC is the right man for us but we seem to keep going back to start again each time we get a new manager (RK-SB-MON) as each manager overhauls the squad.

I reckon after a poor start we'll start climbing away from the bottom of the table around Xmas/New Year time.

Every time I read about some pundit predicting us for relegation, it momentarily leaves a horrible sensation in the pit of my stomach, but there is no way I would feel insulted! With PDC in charge, our crap start, our run of fixtures, we're bound to be one of the favourites! If I was a neutral, I wouldn't be surprised if PDC went tonto! I wouldn't be surprised if we didn't win a game till late October!!!! Like I say, It's up to PDC and the players to prove the neutrals and some of our supporters wrong!

Can anyone else on here remember when there was no league table displayed until after a minimum of 6 games?

Our next home league game is the 14th September - almost a month (exactly 4 weeks actually) after the start of the season - and our last home league game. This has remnants of last seasons start with 1 in 5 being at home due to postponement of the reading fixture!

We're an easy target after the rhetoric failed to materialise into a winning start. After the Fulham game, I was full of confidence due to the style of football we played and the total dominance. The other games gave me a sinking feeling, as we looked to have taken three steps backwards. I really think that we'll be OK once we get the midfield sorted. Gards and Larsson just don't cut the mustard for me, though I'm happy to have them as squad players.
We've got a tough run of games, so we'll be hanging around the bottom of the table for a while yet, but I'm still not worried. Fletch coming back to fitness, Ki providing creativity, Mavrias (hopefully) coming good, should give us a real boost.

Wouldn't worry about. I guarantee he's not seen us play a single game. He's seen highlights and Shearer even said we were all over the place against Fulham! Shows how much football they actually watch so **** em. I'm more annoyed that my licence money pays their bloody wages cause a monkey could do their job.

All fair points but, did you read his reasoning behind putting Stoke in mid table instead of bottom 3 it was the way they played against West Ham!!!!
So all we have to do is have one good game and we are mid table easy.

Can't blame anyone for suggesting that we might get relegated.

Thing is, even if Savage had said he thought we would be top 6, he would still be a ****.
