I have reasons for postin this poll - my Dad has turned into the lads that sat behind us last season and the season beofre and gone extremely negative on SAFC - to a point where he actually said the other day with regards to Sessegnon going to West Brom "I hope he scores a hat-trick against us" (I had to bite my lip - he's a lot bigger than I am and could easily take me!!) I'd like to know how much support PDC has on here - I'm firmly in the "Yes" camp but have a few nagging doubts (which are always natural as a Sunderland fan as we never get things easy!) but would like to gauge some opinion on here now all of the transfers are in and PDC has been here a little longer If you vote - stick a reason in as a comment so we know why!!
Totally behind him apart from his gob, he has a tough job on his hands a bit like rocky in rocky iv, people expect and want him to fail! I hope by the end of the fight everyones chanting paolo! Paolo! Paolo!
Yes for me. We've tried the usual route in the past and failed. Time for change, but not expecting miracles immediately. Strengthening midfield will make a massive difference to us. Hopefully Ki's the man.
If his mouth is a byproduct we have to put up with then so be it. Behind him one hundred percent. His commitment to the club and the the brand of football he's trying to install is much more than Bruce and MoN tried to achieve with us. He's got the players showing us the respect we deserve. Hard working and professional attitude.
He started the same at Swindon, Lost a few, Drew a few then suddenly the Players clicked and realised what it was he wanted from them and how he wanted them to play and the rest was up, up ,up. I have watched our new signings as much as possible and think a couple of improvements are they have Talent and skill and seem comfortable and happy on the ball. No more hiding or quick get rid passes. They will eventually understand which way PDC wants them to play and when they finally put it into practice I believe they will be very hard to beat. As for PDC, He IS our Manager and I am 100% behind him (110% on Match days). Everyone is willing him to fail except most of the Fans but given the time he needs He will do a good job for us. It is not in his nature to slack off or fail so he is giving it his ALL and we should back him. O'Niel only torned up on Thursday afternoon for a half hour, Keano was more often than not out walking his dog but PDC and his Staff are actually living at the AoL for the most part. You can not put this kind of commitment in without getting some reward/Result for your efforts. It is up to the players now to show they are worth it as he thinks they are but for me it's Paulo All The Way.... FTM KTF Viva La Revolution P.S. For those worried about him saying things he shouldn't just think back to a certain Brian Clough !!!! and God only knows how much we worshipped him and he never even got the chance to Manage us.
You'll probably get a few mags on who will vote no to try and skew the poll result. I expect a huge yes to PDC and him being our manager for a long time to come. The lad's been (is) a breath of fresh air. I agree with all his articles in the echo and what he says on tv. Maybe JOS needed a kick up the arse (he's big enough to take it) and maybe Wickam needs an arm round the shoulder, but overall I think the players are buying into Paolo's management.
I voted yes because he does have my support. Whether he will succeed may need a different poll. This is a big step up for him and there`s a steep learning curve to go with it.
Its far too early to judge him yet ffs. He done what we asked him to do last year and kept us up. We're only 3 games into this season!!! Some of our fans do my head in the way they go on. And whoever said they hope Sess scores a hatrick against us should be ashamed of themselves. Theyre certainly not proper fans in my eyes!
Splinters, cos he's a ****ing fruitcake, With all nutters it can go either way, a genius or a melted topic.
It's a YES from me I am firmly behind our leader and everything he is trying to do for the club. Under this siege mentality that exists, not only am I willing Paolo to succeed because it is my club but also because of the unfair treatment that I believe he gets and the club gets from the media looking for a scapegoat and an easy headline story. I think his downfall is his willingness to talk and the fact that English is not his first language. Instead of answering a question concisely he talks for 3 minutes and seems to forget the original question and ties himself up in knots - thus ending up saying things that he shouldn't
It's a strange one for me, too early just as yet. Transfers - well he's not picking players or scouting them. He tell's Di fanti what type of player he wants and here is where it fry's blurred for me. We have know idea if Paolo is happy with what he has been given? Certainly the strong British play maker (Tom Huddleston) he appeared to want but the club appeared to say he was too expensive. Instead we get a loan deal for Ki, who knows what the better move would be. Results count and having not picked up points from our "easier games" we have a brutal run of home games and if Paolo can't get any results then the results may do for him. It is time for Short to back a managers he has a high turn over of managers and players. If we are woeful then Short will have no option but if we show signs of good stuff without the results then he has to back someone. Team selection - if he continues to play Vaughan and Larrson in the middle I think we all would want him out. Slagging players in public, he doesn't need to say what we all know. Who knows how it is going down behind the scenes, will players be trying harder or getting pissed off? One thing is Paolo is prepared to stand up for himself and defend himself. So there you go, I guess I'm on the fence ha ha.
If we beat Arsenal there'd be a mood swing on here, even nmg might get his leg over -if we put in a shift and get 3 points
I put maybe. Im fully behind him as we should all be but im still to be convinced. I cant shake the feeling that this season is gonna go the same as the previous two and we'll see a change of manager during the season. Gus Poyet.......... Hope im wrong and we have a comfortable season.
I think this goes for most of us tbh. The nasty run of fixtures doesn`t help, but as someone said on another thread, they`re there and they have to be played. It`s the half dozen or so games after those which will be the point at which I will judge. He has to be given at least that imo.
I think the nasty run of fixtures may turn out to be a blessing; do the gelling in the games we are less likely to win and be up and running for the lesser teams. Not much of a theory, but there it is. In the meantime, it's a yes from me for PdC. Apart from the fact there's no-one else who I think would be an upgrade, I think we need his determination to change the culture at the club. He doesn't get it all his own way (the net spend shows who's firmly in charge there, i.e. Ellis), but he is left alone to do his own thing on the football side of things. Works for me.
No one complains when he praises players for putting in a good performance, why can't he say when players are playing badly?
