http://espnfc.com/blog/_/name/liverpool/id/1545?cc=5901 Probably an article for me! Like the dig at Spurs, agree about Moses and Sakho, and he does raise the question on a CDM but I can see where we might not have had the funds to do it at this time ( possibly january?).
I don't know enough about them yet, but I'm wondering if one of the new CB's could do a job as DM if required? Perhaps someone who's watched them more could give an opinion.
Not Sakho, he will be in that CB position soon. Llori seems to be a speedster if you will in the back, probably needs to work on his strength. I heard Toure could possibly do that job? Not sure how reliable that is or if he ever even played there?
Quick summary In: Sakho is good, potential to be very good. Moses, chance to prove himself. Illori, one for the future. Cissohko much needed competition. Out: Borini, loan could be a precursor to him leaving (sceptical on that bit) Renia, talking about Barca all summer cost him his 1st XI place. Others out no big loss Overall, good transfer window. Slight concern over missing out on a 'Marquee' signing and lack of cover for Lucas
Sakho is marquee to me. He's been in all my FM teams for years... I don't really care about marquee names. As long as they perform. My biggest disappointment was not cashing in on Suarez to someone overseas. (And using the resulting money)
Again an article that has another swipe at Aspas! I feel he could be our next Lucas or Kuyt and it may take a while for him to be appreciated. He actually works really hard for the team defensively, has fitted into the fluid front 4 system pretty seamlessly and by all rights people should be praising his performances. Looking at the stats so far shows he has one the highest key passes and assists in the season so far out of any PL player and I can only see him getting better, he is definitely the reason Borini has gone!
Cheers for the summary. I've only just logged back in and read the article before looking at the replies so I am able to say that is a very good summary too
To look at squad depth, I prefer to look at two things: 1) Numbers of squad players: Migs, Jones, Johnson, Kelly, Wisdom, Ilori, Sakho Flanagan, Agger, Toure, Skrtel, Coates, Enrique, Cissokho, Lucas, Gerrard, Henderson, Allen, Alberto, Coutinho, Sterling, Ibe, Aspas, Suarez and Sturridge: 25 players. Plus seven who are all youth products that are named as first team players; Ward, McLaughlin, Sama, Jones, Yesil, Sinclair and Morgan. 2) What players can cover what positions: GK: Migs, Jones (2) RB: Johnson, Kelly, Wisdom, Ilori, Sakho, Flanagan (6) CB: Agger, Toure, Sakho, Skrtel, Ilori, Kelly, Wisdom, Coates (8) LB: Enrique, Cissokho, Agger, Sakho, Johnson (5) DM: Lucas (1) CM: Gerrard, Allen, Lucas, Henderson, Alberto (5) RM: Aspas, Henderson, Suarez, Coutinho, Sterling, Ibe, (6) AM: Aspas, Henderson, Suarez, Coutinho, Sterling, Ibe, (6) LM: Aspas, Henderson, Suarez, Coutinho, Sterling, Ibe, (6) CF: Suarez, Sturridge, Aspas (3) I think that is good depth with decent level of quality throughout. Sure, it could be better and its not the best (on paper) in the league, especially the DM area, but it is much better than the start of last season.
You seem to think Sakho is pretty versatile, I've heard some people say he could be cover for DM as well!
