Yeah kinda changes how you feel about a girl when she's phoning you ten times a day and comes into your work asking what you are doing.

 

Well, I've started my first campaign in Rome: Total War. Managed to establish a couple of minor cities and am in good fettle. Fought several battles and I must say that the bit of training I got from the demo certainly helped. I've whipped a few armies backsides and the Senate are rather impressed. All this actually seems to mean that a confrontation with Rome might be sooner rather than later.

On the latter day PC front: a 4 core AMD Phenom 850 has no problems with the graphics which are all on the highest settings, and this is with an motherboard based chipset rather than a specific graphics card. Didn't actually expect this level of detail. Slowing down my controls is probably the next thing I do before I get back to the game, because the mouse movements are a bit quick. All in all, it's definitely fun at the moment. Well worth the tiny outlay. Like the fact that when I opened the new DVD pack there was a bonus offer to allow me to buy additional bits and bobs for a lot more than I paid for the game itself. I think I could probably get the expansion packs for about a third of the special offer price these days. Oh, and I must click on the special offer webpage to see if it still exists, something like 8 years later.
