Having made only four appearances, including one start, in the Europa League since joining the Magpies last summer, the midfielder signs up for a season in Ligue 2

Newcastle midfielder Romain Amalfitano has moved on loan to Dijon for the rest of the season.

The 24-year-old was signed from Reims last summer but failed to make an impact on Alan Pardew's first team.

After only four appearances in 2012-13, all coming in the Europa League, he has returned to his homeland to play Ligue 2 football.

The Magpies man has previously represented Evian and helped Reims to promotion in the season before he departed for St James's Park.

His brother, Morgan Amalfitano, signed a similar loan deal at West Brom on Sunday, leaving Marseille with an option to sell the midfielder to the Hawthorns side.

Bodies going out instead of coming in.

I guess old Joe couldn't get his tongue around the name, so he had to go.

He's not good enough for us or this league, and it's good he's going somewhere he'll get first team football, taking his earnings off our books and hopefully giving more time in the reserves to some of our domestic players.

Shame it hasn't worked out here for the lad, I remember thinking he looked a decent player in the few games he played at the start of last season but considering I don't think he's even made the bench in the Premier League suggests it's just not gonna happen for him, especially when you consider he's not exactly an upcoming player at 24.

He was one of the worst players on the pitch for the reserves at Gateshead pre-season. We won't miss him

You're right there, so bad he went off at half time.

He wasn't alone that night , Vuckic wasn't far behind him.

Shame about Vukic. He has shown real promise at various times but lately has looked really poor.
