Great news that our twice POTY has received his just reward. Maybe this reinforces the theory that the contract situation really is part of a shrewd overall plan from the owners.

I really don't buy this line that they now have to prove their virility further by offering every other Tom, Dick and Bradley a new contract in order to "prove themselves" to the Richard Murray militia wing of our support. No thanks. To my mind, they ( the owners) will prove themselves if they continue with this shrewd approach, only reward the real quality in our squad ( which rules out water carrier par excellence BP) and players who can take this great club further ( which again rules out BP).

Build our promotion chasing team for 2014/15 around a nucleus of Alnwick, Solly, Wiggins, Cousins, Jackson, Pigott, Harriot and Yann. And with Uwe Rosler as manager .

<laugh> nice that you are coming around to my view then Nick <whistle> that the owners have not run out of money (like a young airman claims) but are just trying to run the club on a more commercial basis <ok>

Swap Alnwick for Hamer, if Alnwick cant even get first team and Barsnley I wouldn't have him replace Hamer

I am never one to say I told you so-but I did.

Dicky may have resigned from this board because I gave him a few home truths on the RE situation and the board. He did say he was never coming back. Shame really, that some people in life will believe anything they want to believe as long as they don't have to think for themselves.

Just seeing what a few other sites had to say about the Boards latest shrewd dealings and yes you guessed it, the canterkorous, bed sores on Charlton life led by the self appointed Maharajah of all things Charlton and Hornby, Henry Irvine urinates all over the signings by suggesting that all the money is now spent and the cracks will show later this year. Not a whiff of humble pie then. Some people just want this club to fail.

This is very good news about Solly, took me completely by surprise I must admit. Does anyone know the reason for the timing of it?

V-a-V: I see your one-man anti- Pritchard crusade seems to be moving into overdrive. Why do you think the manager keeps picking him?

We're not rich, but I've never thought we are broke. There has been some questionable things behind the scenes in recent weeks, but this news goes against some of the things I've been told, hence my delight. I can't help but think CP is apart of recent developments, and his comments regarding Solly - ''now he's free to concentrate on his football'' is telling IMO.

I guess this quashes the circulating rumours about the players not being paid?

    1) Would the club be handing out 4 year deals if they could not financially honour the ones they already have in place?
    2) Even if some how the players were not being paid but were still able to offer CS a 4 year deal......would he really have signed it?!

The whole not paying players was nonsense. The media picks up on those stories very quick, I.E Hearts and Pompey.

The problem with Henry Irvine is that he doesn't understand the accounting. He probably believes the BBC reports of Amazon and Google revenues as being "earnings" without understanding that corporation tax is paid on profit not revenue. It is also interesting to consider that, as a club with a controlled level of losses, we may be more of an interest to an overseas investor than one with uncontrolled level of losses. (UK Corporation tax will not allow the tax losses to be easily offset to a different trade).

Committing a player to a four year contract does not mean paying the sum out today but in regular monthly instalments over the next four years. Yes it is a contracted liability but not one that comes out of the coffers today. Therefore so long as the terms are within the owners view of what we can afford in the FFP era, then it should come as no shock to anyone that we are now offering contract extensions.

My personal view is that Wiggins, Cousins and Yann definitely need an extension and probably Church, who I though only signed on a 12 month this summer. Jacko's fitness remains a concern for me but we definitely play better with him in the team. I'm with CP on the Duracell kid that is BP. as you will have guessed by previous comments I rate his ability to break up opposition play in midfield and to put through the odd good pass, better central midfield than wide right in my mind though.

I think BP is one of those players that will only properly shine when played in a specific system or position. In the same kind of way that Jackson doesnt have the legs to 'run down the wing for me' in a 4-4-2 but is now far more suited in a central role (particularly in a midfield three)

It was almost as if 3-5-2 was deployed with BP in mind. I thought it was his most accomplished performance in a CAFC shirt. Broke up play well and had the technical ability of Stephens and Jackson along side to do the pretty work. His energy later on in the game was priceless in relieving the pressure that Leicester's prolonged possesion inevitably brought. I remember him popping up several times in the NE corner of the pitch on several occasions in that second half and just keeping the ball along with Wilson, Cousins and Gower.

I have to admit I was never a Pritch fan, but played in this system I think he looks excellent.

I enjoy reading Dick's posts on all the Charlton message boards. If is is boycotting this one, I hope he changes his mind today, and comes back. We are a broad church. Think of us like the Waltons, dicky <whistle>

I miss him too. He was like one of those born agains. Only too willingly to spread the word but not 100% sure of what that word was. Come back Dicky, I was only messing.

Speaking of the Waltons, I would spend many a happy hour watching the Walton children get up to all sorts of mischief upon Ole' Walton Mountain. Even though John-Boy, Jim-Bob and Jason were horribly handicapped in life with their ginger hair and freckles they still managed to find wives not related to them and that should stand as a real achievement in that part of America, a placed so often likened to Bermondsey. I had a massive crush on Erin Esther Walton even though the spacing between her eyes was a tad out she blossomed into a real sort but my heart was broken when she married that no good cad, Billy-Bob-Billy-Thomas Junior the 2nd from the grocery store. I knew no good would come out of it and sure enough in season 5 she died of syphilis.

Actually no, but Quentin Taratino was a guess director on an episode called "massacre at Ike Godley's Bar" where John Boy high on sniffing turpentine from Daddy's saw mill, takes a sawn off, an axe, and "get all medieval on your ass" decapatating the gran and the little girl with polio in a fit of rage over the news that the local mayor was planning to pedestrianize the high street in little blossom, Virginia . Before returning back to the family home, going into his bedroom and then true to the theme of the show, switching off the lights and the Family saying "Night Jim,. Night May Anne, Night John Boy.,Night Bitch....True QT...
