Ok.. so we're done and dusted on transfers until January.

Looking ahead to the window opening again do you think we will get anyone over the magical line? If so who?

I think that we are starting to see a pattern now of most of our business being done in January.

The reason is clear, in that there are more 'bargains' to be had with respect to players nearing the end of their contracts.

Given this and setting aside my general negativity right now I think we will go back in for Gomis who will have 6 months left and probably secure him for £3m (a much more realistic price) and also ship out Obertan and Gosling.

I also expect us to get another CB as we prepare for Colo leaving (likely next summer IMHO).

Tomi Ince?.... he will have a blinder now and probably be scooped up as a squad player by the likes of Man Utd or Man Citeh.

Must have the same doctor as me, mine has told me to be positive this morning.
No negativity here anymore, only positivity.

So, i have got the crystal ball out and see our new Owner, DofF and Manager bringing in a minimum of FOUR signings in January. The signings will make that final push for the European place and will be of a better standard than the ones that weren't good enough this summer.

    Roll on January.

I know it's going to a bit quiet on here now that the transfer window debacle has finish and we're in a international break in games but I think this thread has been posted a tad too early.

So much could change between now and then. Come January we could be pushing for Europe (unlikely I know) or mid table and relatively safe or fighting relegation. We could have loads of injuries or none. We could have a new manager/DoF/owner/tea lady. There are so many unknowns it's impossible to answer this question.

What we do know is that, being a Newcastle supporter, it's unlikely to be boring.

I cannot see Ash parting with anymore money whilst he is trying to sell.

Purely depends on the situation. I would imagine 2 regardless, simply because it's so easy to pick up a bargain in January. Not saying the best players are available, it's just a lot easier to add value to the squad then. Doesn't matter, for example, that Sissoko isn't destroying teams week in, week out. Point is he's worth well in excess of £15m and cost us £1.8m. That helps put the squad in a valuable position. Conversely, players like Gosling/Perch/Obertan/Jonas/Shola don't help with the value, hence why we wanted another striker and left winger. Purely for squad value. That it helps the team become better is a happy by-product.

    Are you serious?

We had all summer to buy players and nothing.

The only way any players will be bought is to replace ones that are sold - and for less money - if you can't take the hint from Ashley now, you never will.

I doubt we'll see more than one unless we're struggling like last season.
Probably get a striker in as we do all our striker business in Jan (Gouff, Cisse, Carroll) but I don't expect anyone else.

If we are in the bottom three we 'might' 'try' to sign someone. If we're not, we won't! - That's the level of the man's ambition. End of.
(I won't be waiting with anticipation at the prospect of us signing a world class striker that's for sure!)
