If you are right, as NT clearly stated in HDM today that the reason the deal fell through was that WBA had failed to sign Lukaku on loan, is a bare face lie. I know he has come out and said the name change would not happen, and he still maintains what he said was right, but to come out and say that the above was the reason we didn't land SL, when in fact it is as WBA say it was, really is worrying, and should he be MD of any company?
Are transfers like house buying?Do fund have to clear before you get the keys/player or are they like a credit card where you get a month to pay?
I watched the whole SSN show on monday night and I was led to understand that the Shane Long deal originally hinged on WBA signing Sessegnon & Anichibe. When they tried to Hi-jack the Lukaku loan deal. Anichebe became reluctant to sign as he thought he would be playing second fiddle to Lukaku. The SSN guy reported simultaneously from the WBA training ground at 1050HRS that Everton had signed Lukaku and that WBA had pulled the plug on the Shane Long deal and it was now a race against time to sign Anichebe. That deal was announced at approx 1115HRS. My opinion is that it was a case of Anichebe not signing while there was still a chance of them landing Lukaku. WBA pulled the plug on the Shane Long deal at 1045HRS as they only had the Sessegnon deal secured. The other thing was if the deal collasped at 9-50HRS. Why was he having a medical at our training ground at 1030HRS??
They are the ones making the accusations. Either they should produce the evidence or retract the statement. We remain innocent until proven otherwise
Off Sky at 9:36 Romelu Lukaku now being heavily backed to sign West Brom, prompting us to slash the odds from 4/1 to 1/6 with Everton out to 4/1. The striker is now also 4/1 to remain at Chelsea. Find our transfer odds here. by @SkyTimClement September 2 at 9:36 PM http://www1.skysports.com/transfer-centre/clockwatch Go to 9:47 on that link and the reporters outside WBA ground saying Lukaku has just gone in to discuss terms. Found out they wernt gonna get him and pulled the plug on Long.
Nicked off CI. WBA - theyve got form for this Similarities??? oh yes. Harry Redknap had this to say, Redknapp, who suggested a proposed loan deal of a player from QPR to West Brom was the reason for the move breaking down, explained the day's events from his perspective. "It looked as though the deal was going to happen," he said. "We had got a price off West Brom, the kid himself thought it was all on and obviously so did his advisors. So it wasn't out of order for him to jump in his car and head to London. "Peter just wanted to make sure he was in the London area so the deal could go through before that deadline. "It would have looked even worse if it had fallen through because he hadn't got here in time." He added: "The one thing I think Peter did wrong in all this was to actually drive to the ground. If he'd parked down the road, no one would have been any the wiser and - as disappointing as it would still have been for all sides - no harm done." Steve Clarke's view, http://www.theguardian.com/football/2013/ feb/01/peter-odemwingie-qpr-steve-clarke "Steve Clarke has described Peter Odemwingie's decision to drive to Queens Park Rangers on transfer deadline day as "total lunacy" and said the West Bromwich Albion forward was never granted permission to speak to the London club." Contradictory statements. Further in the article is this snippet of deja vu, "Clarke admitted there was a point on Thursday when Albion were close to reaching an agreement with QPR, only for the deal to collapse when Junior Hoilett made it clear that he was not interested in moving to The Hawthorns on loan." Once again,West Brom pulling the plug on a deal when they are unsuccessful themselves. So contrary to my backing of West Brom on another thread, in the words of a poster on here - West Brom? - get ****ed the lot of you.
God. Again. Why do you lot think it is your RIGHT to know what went off. It is all a private negotiation and whatever happened it makes no odds out reputation isn't really in issue as I am quite sure no other clubs will be so afraid they won't deal with us. Just some damage limitation from both sides and you lot if sleuths trying to piece it together like cluedo. Move on! They pulled the plug. They can say whatever for the reason. Whatever the truth it changes nowt in reality. But it does humour me reading how some people are forensically analysing this with a seriousness that is a bit disconcerting. What goes on in private negotiation usually stays private. And what comes out subsequently is invariably never quite the truth... On either side. People can both view the same facts with very different perceptions of reality and thus can both be sure they are being truthful. But hey, if you get this thread to ten pages you may be nearer the truth (sarcasm).
When i first read this i thought no way would AA put himself in this position, this has to be a lie.......then when you think about it and whats happened with club name i started to think maybe there might be some truth. Id have liked them to try this (if true) over the huddlestone deal with Daniel Leavy that would have been fun ha
If you read the Gedo thread, our club didn't cover itself in glory on that one either. It will be interesting to hear the response from the mighty tigers management on this one. I have no reason to doubt the WBA statement either.
Bollocks. It's a business like any other. The reason that city was in such a ****e state previously was because we bought into the crap the football is special
I was given to believe the Gedo deal almost fell through after we agreed to buy him when he last came on loan but couldn't afford that transfer fee when it came to it so tried to take him on loan again. They then extended his contract so we could not get him on the cheap next season.
I love this reaction to Thompson, and everyone saying he's a liar and everyone saying we should not believe absolutely anything he says. Was it actually ever proven that he knew about the name change when he said on RH it wasn't going to happen? I'm not trying to defend the bloke by the way. I think he comes across as a dick after the whole rebrand.
If he didn't know, the Allams allowed him to go on Blunderside's and make a complete twat of himself. If he had any self-respect he would have resigned.
I've met Nick and he's not a twat, his actions throughout the bubble nonsense were excellent, he doesn't want a name change and he's very open to new ideas to improve things for supporters. His problem is, that he doesn't own the club and the owner does want a name change and he's ended up looking a twat as a consequence. I'm glad he didn't resign, we absolutely need him in our corner.
