We certainly took a big step in the right direction and next window we'll be even more likely to attract players like Ozil.
We signed probably the best No. 10 in the World. Wether we still need a few players doesnt change that fact. The Club needed a high profile signing after years of player sales. We GOT it - only it was an even bigger name than the most positive Arsenal fans had forseen. We are short of numbers at CB and CF - but we have added a MASSIVE injection of quality. This team has only lost 2 league games this calendar year - and that was without Ozil and Flamini. Things are not perfect but there's alot to be positive about.
You expect us to be able to compete in 4 competitions with a pathetically small squad, without picking up any more injuries?
Well the FA Cup starts next year, so that's three. By the time the FA Cup starts, Wenger might have brought in maybe another forward, hopefully.
We already have several big injuries. Players will get fit and some will inevitably get injured again. There's nothing 'realistic' about MASS injuries. Some years it happens some years we hardly get any. Projecting that it's a foregone conclusion that our squad is going to get ravaged by injuries is not 'realistic'. Its just overtly negative.
If we are challenging for the league we'll have no problem attracting players. The only problem is all the best players will be cup-tied in the CL if we are still in it.
But it is a foregone conclusion. We've already lost a ton of players, and we're 1 month in. By december, the under 16's will be starting.
I don't think we can manage without resting players and rotating, and the squad we fielded against Fener in the second game was worrying. A 3-0 away lead, and we field our best 11 available, because there's simply no alternatives. In 2007/2008 we used to be able to rotate almost all 11 players and reach the quarters/semis in the Cups, and we still fell short in the title race. The team is just too thin. We might get fortunate with injuries but players will still need to be rested so they don't get burnt out.
Vermaelen should hopefully be fit after the international break and Arteta can now only be a month away from a return
