I read somewhere on that thread that he claims to have gone to MIT and then complains he can't get work in the coding world, except for programming databases.
If that was true, even if he'd achieved the equivalent of a third, a third from MIT would still find him immediate work.
Hell I've been told if I do a course through the open uni bringing me up to speed with certain coding languages, considering what my final year project was (designing, developing and programming a multi-touch tool for djing and live music production which consisted of a combination of a compiled C++ program & a Max/MSP patch from the programming side) I could easily get a job in the software industry for music or the gaming industry as they look for people with sound technology degrees as well so they can record and program the interactive sound, so he must be doing something wrong!

I realise posting this is a direct contradiction of what I said to Loiner earlier, but I wasn't nice to his face on GC anyway & I'm not going to post on there as it's clear he's only looking for an argument and being very close-minded & pig-headed. Not only that he is xenophobic and ageist to boot.

 

He didn't go to MIT, that was me taking the piss. He probably went to Borehamwood Polytechnic or something to do his applied computers degree.

Still though, what he's said contradicts what I've been told from actually getting in touch with a few employers that I've seen looking for potential candidates for programming roles that don't involve coding databases or similar. Just it's what I'm looking at myself in the long term, whilst getting any job I can in the short term.
